MY07 STi #84 signing on

  Top of Page

Have been lurking for a few weeks reading while deciding what car to buy – had an MY04 3.0RB and time to change.

Tested the new 3.0Rb and they fixed a few quirks but no massive changes.
The standard GT was a disappointment to me as I thought the 2.5 would solve the lack of power under 4000rpm, but no. Still a slug unless you rev the crap out of it – then it boogies. Not my driving style anymore.

Was serious about the 3.2 V6 VW Pisser with DGS gearbox - I can hear you laughing however it’s a smooth powerful combo until you see the resale value and options list. Then last change the dealer gave me a squirt in the Sti tuned GT – now we’re talking.

Just can’t believe the difference between a GT & the Sti – completely different cars. This is what the GT power should have been like from the start.
The price was high, but the early power delivery, great brakes & healthy exhaust tune had me sold. So bingo we had a sale and number 084 was gone.

Here's the pic's.

Yeah black seems very popular, esp the Gen IV's and its no reason why!  :victory:

I was told last year with the limited edition there was heaps of silver and charcoal and a few black imported.
The black sold out instantly to thier surprise and heaps of silver were left over.

So this year black was the major colour.
I was told only 11 Silver manual wagons came in - anyone able to confirm this??

They tried to screw me on the rims by giving me silver, but it looked like my old MY04 3.0RB so I refused to take it as all the pic's showed black rims. They swapped them with a sedan they had waiting for someone else [hadn't signed the deal so I didn't feel too bad].

Didn't really want black as it's a bitch to keep clean.
Already waxed/ polished, etc. and the thing is a mess already just from driving round mad

Mickey,

Thanks.

Sound is great - a good rumble on idol reminds you it's not a normal GT or 3.0.
Haven't really fanged it hard yet - still running it in and want to be careful, however the demonstrator sounded sweet at about 6000rpm.

I love the low revs in 1st going though the underground car park as it just burbles a louder note than when it's going on song.

The pipes add to the sound but more importantly to the performance as the turbo spools up much lower and it's a huge benefit to the 2.5.

I wanted the GT [had the 3.0rb] but the lack of power under 4000rpm was dissapointing. I was going to go to STi in Docklands and get the ECU & the quad pipe exhaust fitted to a GT but decided the $$ for the proper STi version was worth it in the long run [trade in time] factory v's hotted up.

The brakes are a great surprise but the ABS still kicks in too early for me - I love to break late and hard fo corners - watching holdens and fords skid wide:)  trying to keep up.

I just bought the t/b STI version and the ECU & Exhaust make the car completely different to the GT.
You would not think they are even the same engine.

Torque comes in at 2500rpm and by 6000rpm you are changing gears for more speed, not trying to keep it above 4000rpm just so it will move.
Yeah the GT was a massive dissapointment in standard form.

Convince your parents they need a service at STi Docklands and pay the $4000 to have the STi EUC & quad exhaust fitted. You'll never look back!

STi brakes, etc are also a bonus, but if you have the GT upgrade and you'll then really love the car, not just like it.
