My Son.

  Top of Page

My boy's into Crusty Demons at the moment and is starting to develop an unhealthy like for jumps and skids, something we all did as young blokes I'm sure and something I suppose I should get used to.
But I've convinced him that Go-karts are cool as I'd like him on 4 wheels instead of 2.
So yep, I'm up for a go-kart now, and am here asking if anyone here knows what to look for in one.
I'm leaning toward a CRG Picolo at the moment with a Comer80 or a Yamaha J.
Not paying new prices untill I think the little mongrel wants to do it a littlt more seriously.
If you know anything about them, or know anyone selling one please let me know.
Cheers
Frank

good on ya mate, i have always wanted to race them but just cant afford it,

i take my maes out for a spn every now and again though..its race prepped an goes like stink..we muck around with the gear ratios to get eithr better acceleration or top end.

but i have this wicked plan involving a certain Vf32 sitting in  my shed

There's a track/club hidden away at the dreamworld exit, they have classified ads stuck on a noticeboard just inside the door of the office....

http://www.gckc.com.au/

I saw lots of second hand ads ranging from a couple hundred to several thousand..

Sweet FA ads on their website.. in fact the whole website is a bit minimal..

I definitely have the bug and will be looking into at least practice days there in the long term plan..

Good stuff!

Thanks Joe. Nah he's only 7 in a couple months. He's already beating me at need for speed so I think he'll steer quite well.
Are you still grounded?smile

The only thing I had when I was 7, from the old boy, was a kick up the backside and more homework.

Go Karts seem to be quite an investment. Although you'd probably cringe at the idea, Frank, have you and your sun mucked around with pocketbikes yet? Cheap, easy, fun, relatively safe*, and some go-kart tracks now race PB around. They don't go terribly fast, but once you're on one, they feel like a million miles an hour!

*with proper protective gear, of course

Thanks Alex. Two wheels is what I'm trying to steer him away from. I once road road bikes but the traffic is far worse now, so the aim is to avoid the inclination to do just that.
If he gets into karting, which he probably will for 10 minutes, he may consider it and 4 wheeled motorsport as he's growing up, over bikes.
Boy's, we all have wog dads. We all understand some form of brutal beatings.
I refused to practice my Cornet one Sunday afternoon and my dad came to beat me(god bless him) for disobeying him. He went to strike my behind and clipped the back pocket of my Stubbies with his finger(next to pinky). He bent the finger that far back that the knucle closest to the fist opened up and his bone was protruding from the middle of his finger, what a mess. He hasn't struck me again.

ah Frank... Memories...

the wooden spoon broke on me... didnt feel a thing, but the parents did.. it stopped there for me! hahahaha

I was about 11 or something, all I know is I'll be belting my kids too! this airy fairy BS about talking to them is rubbish..

did you listen to your parents when they told you the oven is hot? NO - you went and got burnt to learn!!

HUMANS ONLY LEARN FROM PAIN.

also,

try find one of those kits, you can build the cart yourself and just put a bike motor it from a YZ80, or a 125.. From memory they are from the states

Frank, very hard to Imagen you riding a bike.

If he does how ever have his eye's set on riding a bike, get him a decent BMX, take him to a skate park, and i gurantee you that in 15mins he will have mangled himself.
I know i've ridden those things for about 5 years, and im a cripple to prove it.

My point is, there cheap. he wont hurt himself seriously, and he will get over it quick smart when you say, well its X10 for a motor bike.
Then go karts will seem like an awesome idea big_smile

This is why we have n00bs the way they are, these days.

Hippy parents who aren't into corporal punishment or education.

Them young whipper snappers,  full of over confidence, and lack of respect for elders.

We should beat up n00bs. Kinda like an initiation rite into Ozlib...

Seriously

+1 pn Mickey's idea. Stuff spending so much on a kart. Buy a bomb. Thrash on paddock.

Yeah, 15mins will be sufficient enough to teach him without leaving life long scars.
I was stupid (was/is) i riped the ligaments in my ankle, and then 3 days later i figured it was a good idea to go to the doctors, that plus 2 broken hands, 1 fractured ankle, 1 stuffed knee, and a crook back, finally made me realize cars don't hurt quiet as much big_smile

EDIT:

Forgot smashed wrist, (Just clicked it and remembered.)

OK, kill 'em all.
CBD dweller here dude, no paddocks. Mum and Dad sold the last 40 acres 8 years ago.
