My New Project. (56k = poo)

  Top of Page

Heya All.

In the spirit of what Al has kinda done, I've decided I needed less stress from the now ex missus, and decided to have some fun (not that the leggy isn't fun!)I haven't added it to the RS Liberty Club Rides section, well, as it's not an RS, or even a Subaru. But I know there's some Toyota love here, so I thought I may share some piccies. smile

Story is that I have a couple of friends at some stage, we've all owned some old school Toyotas. About four or five years ago, one of my friends purchased her TA22 Celica after falling in love with my other mate's TA22. Difference was, that hers was a little rough around the edges, but still worthy of some loving. So over all these years, this car has had rust cut out of it, and plated up, resprayed, interior restored, and a whole swag of modifications done to it. When she started restoring it, I noticed the amount of time, money and coin that was invested into it, and I uttered the words "if you ever wanting to sell this thing, call me!" She said "NEVER!!"

Fast forward to Christmas 2008. We were having dinner together, and she mentioned If I remembered that time I offered to buy her car...... Well. It was an offer too good to resist.

There isn't much left to do on her. I plan on upping the compression on her to get some more killerwasps from the motor (with some lumpy cams), gilmer drive, little bits of trimming in the interior, old school nardi wheel, some more deckage and a new set of wheels.

So far, the mods off the top of my head are as follows:
* 4AGE Bigport with Headwork, adjustable cam wheels
* Scorcher Custom Dizzy
* Twin Dell'Orto Carburetors
* T50 Sprinter 5 Speed Gearbox
* Custom Tailshaft
* Sprinter Clutchpack Limited Slip Differential
* New Mini British Racing Green Metallic
* Noltec Catalogue thrown at it including adjustable strut tops, strut brace and swaybars front and now rear
* 17" Wheels
* NOS Badges (not complete however)
* NOS Bumpers
* NOS Rubbers
* RA28 Self Retracting Seatbelts
* And a shedload more...
So here she is lads. Some pics I've managed to collate so far of the build. I'll add more pics as I find them or take them.

Alex

Pretty much how it started out. Some whitewalls, and a bit of a tidy up.

Some paint, and a better powerhouse than the 2T

Those gearboxes are K50's. I remember my old KE55 smile

The T50 is a fair bit stronger smile

Nice one Alex! That's tidy project you've got yourself there...Always loved that shape. My aunt has had a white one for 20 odd years that i'm hoping to snag one day when she decides to part with it.

I'll follow your progress with great interest

Thanks all

Al - It'll have to get there eventually. Don't exactly want a 1G. 1J won't fit without taking the rad support. So logically 3SGE BEAMS will have to go with a nice 6 speed (getrag?) box to suit.

Shane - heck yeah! No kit on this, externally is just about complete. Toying with the idea of JDM style fender mirrors...

The 6MT is not Getrag it's an Aisin Warner the same as MX5's and S15's have.

1G's are too tight in TA22's also. 2GR-FSE V6?  Fark, don't even get me started.

Search for Jaffa on Toymods forums. Bring beer, tissues and something to support your jaw.
