My crash on bike at eastern creek..Pictures.

  Top of Page

I have a track bike for fun at race tracks. It's a honda CBR250RR. I though i'd share this story.
Went to eastern creek with some mates on the 30th. I was having a blast and the bike was going well. I even managed to crack the 2 minute mark (1.59) on the CBR250RR.
It still needs some suspension tweaking, but it's very close at the moment. Awesome bike to ride, 4 spot calipers on front, lots of late braking and chopping..
The crash..
Happened about 4th session turn 9 on the exit. i think i gassed it too much early. I felt the rear tweak a little, then alot, then i was flying passed the front wheel.

My damage

I had no damage what so ever. I was a little sore about 2 days later, that's it. My biggest concern was that i didn't have a pocket to bring back the snapped peg. I remember thinking i better bring my arms in and started rolling. So much fun.
Bike damage
The bike snapped a foot peg and bent the front lever. Some fairing damage and engine casing scratches. I rode the bike back to pits, repaired, had lunch and kept riding the rest of the day.

It was really weird in the fact that i was on th exit and starting to straighten up. Maybe some coolant leaked from overflow onto rear tyre as the bike was getting very hot?

Mr_B4, ZXR250, there a nice bike to scream around on. Have you done any track days?

still rode it home though....  went to the hospital 4 days later when the pain hadnt died down...  was operated on that night.

bike was salvaged for $11,000  bought it for close to $25,000.

best ever adrenalin rush you could have....  and would blow everything off on the road..

That's a huge off. Can't believe that you had that many things broken for 4 days. The pain must have been massive dude.

MR_B4

That's the beauty of track days. You start at your own pace. You can even do courses to help you ride better. I remember my first track day i was so nervous thinking i was an idiot doing it on a cbr250r. I got owned the first session getting passed by everyone.

In the break i got talking to another cbr250 rider and he showed me my chicken strips and gave me some pointers. The second session i went for it. My mate who also come up for his first track day on his new R6 couldn't catch me.

Worm

It was an awesome day for it. Perfect weather and not to many crashes. Nothing worse than going to a track day only to be cut short from people crashing all day. Happened at oran park not long ago.

Was any of your mates the guy in B2 on the CBR1000RR?

It was quite funny. This guy was all geared up and looked like he was going to go hot around the corners, but he was so slow. He took off on the straight bits and the next corner i chopped him knee down on a pink 250..very funny.

Have to agree, Track days are the best.

At this time I am exclusively doing track days, to dangerous to be on the roads, and you can push the bike and not have to worry about all that revenue raising the governments are so fond of. :big_boss:

Here are a couple of my last track day on the old bike.

The second is how you stay focused and look into the corner :Pardon:

Just saw something pop up from behind the barrier, just as I stole a quick look, **SNAP*** the rest is history.

Yeah, that bike was my pride and joy. I never met a thing on the road that it couldn't destroy, and many tried

Looking forward to seeing what the CBR 1000RR will do, as it is far more aggressive for the track then the 12 ever was.

To get really low on the corners follow the below.

Just make sure your suspension has been serviced lately. Change fork oil and through in a few 20 cent pieces as a cheap pre-load adjustment. Adjust the forks so they protrude up through the triple clamps a bit, about 5 mm.

Check your rear spring pre-load, adjust so it squats the same time as the front when you sit on the bike.

Your now ready to hit some corners. nothing more scary than hitting corners with a front end that feels like a pogo stick.

This applies to the cbr250.

Check out the cool forum www.cbr250.com

I'm on their heaps. Love it.
