My Conundrum.

  Top of Page

I want to get a turbo Gen1 Gen2 or RS.

Must be a wagon.

I have cash.

Problem is i cant seem to find a very tidy example locally.

Today I drove a Gen2 GT after that I drove a Gen1 GT and the same applies.

Im really after very tidy one that needs very minimal cosmetic work and of course low kays and a good engine that hasnt been overly modified.

Am i being too picky to expect to find a very tidy one?

(Miles i will be in contact again)

OR..........

Seeing as im pretty fussy over it being tidy and my wagon is like new inside and excellent outside, should I purchase a GT-B kit from Import Monster, and then put a turbo motor in it?

All in all it will probably work out a little more to do this to my car, but alot of other suspension and cosmetic things have been done.

Go the conversion.
By the sounds of it you'll be hard pressed finding a car in as good condition as your is.
You should be able to get yourself a halfcut with all the bells and whistles at a good price through AL and Miles.
Get them to do the mechanical and you the cosmetic.

I was just speaking to Miles as im considering purchasing his GT wagon.

Already has a new motor with some extras, its in tidy condition for 13k.

GTB kit for mine $850 from IM plus about $500 for paint.

WRX conversion (box and motor) from AM about $7k V3 sti about $12K

I think its in my financial interest to buy Miles one as mine will still have wind up windows and a lower spec interior.

Or just leave it NA and be done with it.

NAH!!

Buy the GTB kit and send to AM and get it all installed, you will have it back in a week.

Mate, Buy a GT or GTB.
As you may know late model GTB's have the forged internals and good heads/cams.

Perhaps converting to single turbo after the fact may be on the cards?
It would mean you'd be getting a great interior and body. Cosmetic stuff is just that, and easily repairable.

That said, Miles' wagon looks the business.
Plane tickets + Road trip in the new car = Epic win.

agreed...

you will find it very hard to get an RS with low Ks and if you find one they will want alot of coin for it and most of them have been modified.

i was lucky with mine as it was bog stock and a wagon smile

but i think a Gen 2 GT-GTB would be the go we all know how good they look.

Buy Miles's.
He wouldn't build himself a crap car, so you can be sure you'll be getting a beast.

Sooooo many watchers and 2 phone calls today alone! Seems to have generated a little interest. Im yet to see another Gen2 in my travels as clean inside and out thats a daily driver.

Yes after driving the Gen1 GT today i felt really cramped in it. Im 6'2" and felt hunched over the wheel. Definitely stick to the Gen2's.

Because Gen2's are teh Hawtness!!

I think you would be better of selling and buying GT/GTB, mainly for the fact or the more luxury items.

I was chatting with Alex last night, but atm the price is just a bit too high for me.

His wagon is definitely worth the money and is very impressive, but i cant stretch that far atm.

After alot of emailed pics and phone calls to Miles, I have bought his GT.

Im planning to fly up next Friday and drive it back to Melbourne. big_smile
