My 1st Subaru-MY07 Liberty Wagon

  Top of Page

Hey guys, thought I'd introduce myself.

Im Daniel, 21, in the RAAF at Richmond NSW working as a CETech (don't klnow what it is?  Go search for it-my attempt at helping recruiting is now done haha)

Well, my 1st car was a 1.3ltr 4sp manual '88 corolla hatch, then I got a '98 Camry Conquest V6 sedan which I still have but is quite boring, hence the new car.

Anyhow I've just bought a 2006 MY07 Subaru Liberty Wagon 2.5i semi-auto (or whatever the Subaru version is called, can some one confirm this?).  I bought it from Regal Subaru in Newcastle with 77 000km on it, in pearl white, with sunroof and all that nice chrome/metallic/black interior that looks quite nice!

I got the dealers to window tint it.  All up cost me $26 145 drive away.

Pics are a combination of the dealer photos and my camera phone, will clean it and take some good quality ones soon

Future mods:

I plan on a pretty big sound install.  Currently Ive got an isntall in my camry consisting of an Alpine 9886i HU with IMPRINT and the IMPRINT manager Microphone kit.

Front splits are Boston SL60 6.5"/1" splits running off a JBL GTO 504 4X50w amp bi-amped (semi-active).  Stinger roadkill in front doors for S/D.

Subs are 2X Treo Engineering SSi 10" Dual 4ohm coils in an SPL box tuned to 47Hz (box is temporary).  Subs are loaded to a toal of 4 ohms and running off a JBL GTO 14001 running 1200wrms at 4ohm.  I got the 2 10's by swapping my 12" of the same model to a guy who had the 10's, hence the SPL box, and not my musical box for the 12"

Sorry for rambling, Im not good at keeping things short!

Well, for the Lib, I plan on getting the ALPINE IVA-W502EV double din HU (which will mean I have to buy that fascia kit to give me double DIN slot)

Front splits will remain the Boston SL60's for now.  Amp for these is looking like it will be the Hertz HP4 or the EP4X.  Tweeters looking like they will be A-Pillar mounted, but will pla yaround with dash mount positions, not sure what works best in these cars

Rears will be stockies muted unless I have passengers that really want music, then Ill just run those off HU when needed I suppose.

Subs will remains the Treo's, yet will likely be run off of a Hertz HP 1KD mono (3200rms @ 1ohm) in a box tuned to around 33-35hz.

Lots of Sound Deadening

Optima Yellow Top battery, 1 or 2 runs of 0awg power and ground cable.

Getting away from Sound Systems, I might look at getting a CAI if possible (the stock intake is in a box that gets air from inlets just under bonnet so may need to be removed?)

Oh and the exhaust is quite quiet so I will be looking at a small exhaust upgrade to get that nice subaru sound (dont want too loud though)

Well, thanks for reading!

Well, it will have the ability to thats for sure, but I'm slowly getting older and getting more into SQ rather than just loud.  I'd say this install will be a bit on the SQL side.  Loud but good.

Edit:  Oh and I nearly got angry at myself for putting up pictures with rego plates still on, then remembered I live in a secure RAAF base so not much chance of being stolen smile

Edit 2:  Rims I might get later-RJR Illusions (I'll find pic later)

Some more pictures.

Audio install is done.  Installed by Hakki from Crankin Car Audio.  Unbelievably good for the price!  I'll post up details of the system in the Audio section I think.  Actually maybe a quick list of equipment here.

Alpine 9886i with Imprint
2 X Treo Engineering 75.4's
1 X Hertz HP1KD mono
Boston SL60 6.5" splits
2 X Treo Engineering SSi 10.44's
Optima D34 yellow top
And an awesome car alarm

I'm relatively happy with the power.  It's actually less than my old V6 camry which is kinda sad, but handling is 100X better.  I might look into a turbo, but not sure.  I should have just got the 3.0R or the GT, and in manual!  I'll post a topic in engine section about what I might try and do.

Well that's it from me for now!

nice work mate... that's a nice little shopping list you've got there...

i wish my sound system could compare...

i'm thinking about joining the defence force soon (booked the YOU session already) and was worried that i'd have to say goodbye to my subi... but i guess i won't need to do that...

anyway, welcome (i know it's belated)

and yes, you should have got the 3.0 or the GT... and deffinately a manual...

auto's are for women (and drag cars), even if you can shift them yourself

Haha yeh I know.  But when I found this car I just fell in love with it (so to say!).  Was in such a good condition, even if it did have 77000km on it and they ahd a sale that weekend to pay x-fer and stamp duty fees, so saved myself a fair bit.  I guess I could spend a few grand on improving performance.  I wouldn't wanna go over 3k, but I have no idea about engines so really not sure what's needed
