Hi
I've been a tech at a subaru dealership here in Prince George for about 4 years now. The last 2 years I've been driving a 91 legacy wagon. Kick ass car, such a friggin blast in the snow. Totally stock but it doesn't matter when it's AWD and the roads are solid ice.
So anyways, can't really afford a wrx (the wrx didn't get released till 2002 up here ****ty eh?). So I started bugging this guy I seen around town with a turbo legacy about a year ago. You see my town has a population of about 90k, in all that there are about 12 gen I legacy turbos and only 2 have 5 speeds. They weren't very popular back then.
SO i got this car. 93 turbo with a 5 speed and 345k kms and a bunch of body rust. My plans are to turn into a machine. No show and as much go as I can afford. I got it lined up for a rollcage in the fall and the race seats are sitting in my wagon right now. I plan on a flat black body, all teh windows tinted out and black rims. It'll be ment for logging roads and icy conditions ( you should see the winters up here).

Expect some really stupid questions, nobody knows anything about these cars up here. But at the same time if you have a general tech question about subarus shoot. Although I haven't done very much performance work on them.

So here's my first questions

-Where the hell do you find a good game plan for the engine, are there certian cams that work with certain turbos. Also how and can I get set up to tune this thing myself with a laptop?

-ques#2 can I bend the fins on my turbo, we have a few sitting in the parts shed and I want to bend the fins to make more compression happen or happen faster.....will this work?

And if anybody tells me to use the search tool. I did, the Gen1 forum is filled with stuff people pay me to fix.
Thanks to anyone that's got a link for me.

hey, welcome....

theres heaps of info in here, u just need to kno where to look... as for the question about the turbo's, cams and stuff. go to the "Under The Bonnet" section. there will be plenty of performance upgrades and D.I.Y's.

I dont kno bout bending the fins... but i heard of some1 welding bigger ones ontop... lol...

Welcome mate, as mentioned the under the bonnet section could be helpful and go nuts on the old search button.

On a slight off topic note you cant really go past good old BC bud.

Welcome. I gotta get my ass up to Canada and check it out, looks beautiful.
Turbo's spin at almost 200 000 rpm so playing with compressor fins is not recommended. Balance is tantamount.
There should be heaps of answers for your questions around here.
