That is definatly a mad looking car. I saw the unveiling of this on the TV just recently, I think they said it was running about 550hp.

I cannot stand Skylines, but I love this new one, did anyone see it in action at Targa Tasmania? There were about 3 imported into Australia especially for the Rally. One question...Will it be coming out in a stock standard form aswell?

Hi,

There is no longer a 'Skyline' as such, it is simply called the R35 GTR.

No lesser models, only more expensive models such as the V-Spec will follow.

Thank F**k for that, no more posers, I doubt the Suburban D1 kings will be buying one of these soon, or atleast until 5 years down the track. Looks sweet, Will surely convert some STi boys.

Hi,

Costing over double an STi, though many might want to be a convert, I can't see too many being able to afford it.

I hope to own one of these in around 5/6 years time. Depending on depreciation.

Cheers,
Nik

Double? I thought it was more like 3-4x :scare2:
Not a fan of the matte look, although I quite like the GTR

Re: Matte Black GTR

From what I have read (in Wheels or Motor mag) the GTR is yet to be crash tested etc for ADR approval, so all the GTRs that have been imported can't be road registered - they may however get temporary registration such as rally cars can. Until someone stumps up the cash and a car - ie. Nissan - to have it crash tested, you won't see them driving around on the roads all that much.

Supposedly Nissan won't be releasing it officially til mid to late next year!

I thought there was only 1 competing in the targa tasmania - it had tyre/suspension issues but WILL be the car to beat from next year on. :neo:

Re: Matte Black GTR

apparently these cars are wired up so much that nissan can tell how hard you drive and how many times u have launched, shifted at etc evrytime u start the car. not good if u want to claim something on warranty

best thing about this is that the r34 are gonna drop in price so much.

Yes I read that also - supposedly it could tell Nissan everything about what, how and where you are doing with the car at anytime.

Mods will definately void the warranty - but really, will you need to mod this?...

Hi James,

Same as every Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini etc. has been for years.

The ones that are already in Australia are all race/rally registered. So they need a 'moving permit' (I think that's what it's called) to be allowed on public roads.

They are definitely rolling into the US in reasonable numbers... this photo from Jacksonville, Florida.

True but the article made it sound like Nissan were taking it to a whole different level - as realtime 'tracking' of the cars activities via GPS/Satellite back to Nissan.

Re: Matte Black GTR

Hi again,

Yes, and no. For all intents and purposes, here in Australia the system will be the same as the aforementioned manufacturers.

Nissan of course, was aware of this, so they built a speed-limiter which is connected to the car’s GPS system, the GPS will send a signal to the car’s ECU to disable the 180km/h limit when it detects the car has entered a race track! How cool is that?

It is highly unlikely the GPS->speed-limiter system will be activated for Australian delivered GT-Rs. However locally sold variants are more than likely to have their speed-limit set higher than 180km/h.
But you are indeed correct, the system is more advanced than the others.

Nik

Cheers Nik - I was going off memory as I didn't have the mag at hand.

Wonder what the limit will be set to then?

Re: Matte Black GTR

Hi,

I would tip 200, or 225k/ph. It is 250 in Europe - but I am just guessing. There have been calls to limit all Australian delivered and manufactured cars to 120k/ph!

Don't think that will come into fruition though...!

Nik
