Looking at buying a B4

  Top of Page

I'm looking at buying a B4 and wondering if they are a good car and if they have any problems that can occur, how do the handle?, are they worth the money?.  So far the only bad thing i have heard about them is the lack of power between the turbos, but i have also been told you can drive around that problem. Probably be looking for 'MY02 or MY03 models.

anyone on here that has one will tell you yes get one. the vod (valley of death) can be reduced by a tune but its not that bad. a ecutek, verso reflash can do wonders and so can a piggy back/replacement comp (haltck, motek etc) with the right tune/tuner. handling wise i put a set of pedder springs in mine and it handles like a dream. worth the money yes indeed the leather interior alone is perfect. with an exhaust and other mods its pretty much set to impress. i've owned one for two years now and if it wasnt for wanting to travel i would keep it. i,ve never looked back after buying on. ive driven gtr's gti-r's sti's, evo's pretty much every jap car possible and they dont compare luxuery and look wise. buy one......

Personally i dont have a B4 but i have a 98 RX and i would imagine the cars only to get better. My 98 is a beautiful car to drive but does not look as nice as the B4.

As previously said, despite the VOD and pinging issues in hot weather, i couldn't be happier with the car.  Both issues can be minimised with a good tune.  For a car in the mid 20's, good looks and decent power, its a great cruiser with the occassional fang.  But i could be biased.  smile

Come to the next meetup/cruise and ur welcomed to cruise with me.

While I don't have a B4, I do have an 01 RX. After driving the liberty, I don't think I could ever drive anything else. I have driven many cars in the past, and nothing is as comfortable, good looking or handles as well as the Liberty

I'm probably biased also, but my next car will be a liberty, and if you buy one yourself you will never be happier!

If I had the cash at the time I would have gone for the B4, maybe next time!

I just heard from a guy on a wrx forum that they are known to destroy turbo's for no reason. Has anyone heard of this happening before when the the car is not being driven hard all the time.

Nope, i've never heard that about poping turbos, people have dropped bearing due to a number of reasons, mainly low oil,

hell I am pushing over 18.4 PSi in mine and she's still like new.

How many k's would you expect to get out of the turbos in stock form, and what's  a rough cost of replacing them?

Have a read through the old posts. You will find most people dont have blown turbos unless they've done something to it such as over sized dump pipes but you could just have bad luck. Someone was quoted around 4k or something stupid like that from Subaru for the secondary turbo.

if you  blow a turbo you can always have it re-built and high-flowed for about 1k, it will be like new but with alot more power!!,

or you can always go single turbo with a garrett T04
