by XoN on 16-11-09 08:45 PM I've got 3 servers running linux. I'm afraid I don't love it enough to use it as a desktop o/s though. |

by walts on 17-11-09 09:04 AM Why would you use linux? Apart from the cool Gui and effects, it's terrible, un-user friendly, shit all programs,

by vik on 17-11-09 06:34 PM Not going 2 get in2 the pros and cons off every O/S system, u have being using windows all ur life, Linux is a totally differnet beast, ppl expect the windows experience, Linux doesn't have this, Linux is a free open source O/S and so is it's software. Ppl around the world join Linux communities and spend more a hour for no payment to help develop and continue to make Linux and it's software as good if not better then the resource hungry, corporate sypware infested Windows crap that a monkey at the zoo with a laptop can take over ur computer in few minutes(window 7 esp). I'm using Ubantu Karmic Koala 64bit, I have no windows or dual boot with Windows. Anyway, love to hear from any fellow Linux users. |

by vik on 18-11-09 03:01 PM Well, I build & set up custom computers as a side gig, so my geek box is higher spec, hence running Karmic Koala 64bit hacked, tweaked and moded Linux. Got Ubuntu development Lucid Lynx but haven't really opened to source codes to play with. AMD Phenom2 X3 720 2.8 overclocked to 3.41, Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P AMD Mainboard, 3gig ddr3 1300 Corsair overclocked to 1422, Leadtek 7800GTX overclocked videocard, Antec Sonate 2 black edition case with 600w gold edition PSU, 1 Seagate cuda 7000.2 hhd as back up, 1 Western digital Blackedition with firmware update. Plus North/South Bridge Overcolocked, voltages tweaked here and there. Updating to A Corsair SSD 64g next month and will run Linux from that drive. U mate, I know u have acouple tweated O/C boxes? |

by XoN on 19-11-09 09:46 AM Nothing that glamorous Vik... I've got an IBM T43p laptop that I pulled to pieces and put in a custom box acting as a NAS for my media center with a pair of 1TB samsung drives running ubuntu off of an SD card, an Opteron dual core 2GHZ box with 2GB of RAM and a pair of 250gb drives running a few private websites with gentoo on it and my main desktop which is an Athlon 64 x2 2.1GHZ using a fanless heatsink with 2GB of RAM, a pair of 320GB drives and a geforce 8900gt sitting in an Antec 180P case with an antec 500w HE power supply which I dual boot between ubuntu and XP. |

by XoN on 19-11-09 12:08 PM I think there's been some miscommunication. This is in no way a problem, I just enjoy being a nerd far more than I enjoy modding my car. Given the option of buying a new graphics card or buying a boost controller I'd pick the graphics card any day of the week. |
