Wheels magazine’s first road test of the Model Year 2007 Subaru Liberty GT spec.B concludes that it is "...the supreme family slingshot."

In the October issue of Wheels, Nathan Ponchard writes: "In unison with an edgy restyle and a subtle engineering upgrade, the MY07 Subarus hail the introduction of a technology previously unavailable on any car priced below 200 grand – a selectable engine output.

"In this instance, that piece of tech parades under the title of ‘Subaru Intelligent Drive’ (SI Drive) and operates in a similar fashion to BMW’s ‘Power’ button in the M5 and M6…"
"But Subaru’s system goes one step further than BMW’s. SI Drive offers three modes – Intelligent, Sport and Sport Sharp…and focuses not just on performance but also improved fuel economy."

It continues: "Since the Bilstein-equipped, 18-inch-wheeled variant of the old 3.0R proved so popular, Subaru has now introduced the same variant in GT guise, and it’s a fabulous combination."

For the full story, see the October edition of Wheels, out now.

Little known fact: Ponch used to have a charcoal RS Turbo which he loved dearly and only sold recently.

Quite a few motoring journos own, or have owned, RS Turbos. Foresters are also popular...

I am trying to work out the best way to capture the sound of the HiTech's.  They have a very nice note, no drone and almost undetectable from inside the car under normal driving conditions but under acceleration, there is it the “The Rumble” sounds like a WRX. smile

I have not really driven the car yet as I am still running it in but it would seem to run a little better to the reduced restriction.

I am in Sydney if anyone wants to hear them.

Did you get just the mufflers or the whole exhaust system..?? How much did it cost (if you dont mind me asking)..? Is there a noticible power difference..?? (I know you are still running it in, but did it give it me power in the lower rev range.. )
Where did you get the exhaust from..??
I noticed you have reversing sensors, are they standard, or di you get them put on..?? (Mine didn't come with any...)
Are you going to get a turbo timer fitted, if so what kind are you looking at...??
Sorry for all the questions...:mda:

I just got the mufflers only, I got them direct from HiTech. See www.hitechmufflers.com.au.  Ask for Lambros.
From the driving that I have done there would appear to be more power, the car seems to rev more freely and when the power comes on it does a little lower in the rev range and stronger.
The reverse sensors where a dealer fitted option and they have a gauge inside that displays how far you are away from things, nice feature.  Once you have had them on car you can never go back.
I believe Turbo Timers are now no longer ADR compliant and have no plans to fit one at this point in time.
None of these really do the sound justice as they were recorded on my laptop.  You can hear the nice note at idle though.

White MY02 B4. 2.5LTR, Garrett Turbo, Autronic ECU, PPG gearbox, Brembo brakes... Fun times

Re: Liberty GT spec.B is the supreme family slingshot, says Wheels

they still do, but not as noticable as previous models. although can be heard higher up in the revs. and yes it is to do with the lengths/designs of the headers
