kurts time to complain

  Top of Page

i know i seem to do this alot lately, go on a tangent raving like a looking like a luantic, but you all know how much luck i have had with my car lately well the brissy boys would anyway.. and it just continues.. i now have my angry eyes on

Dropped the lemon off for the 112500 service the other day, and the other day being Wednesday and as they usually do, they asked me if there was anything wrong. I told them the list, running like crap, barely kicking over while idling, still missing, and still pulsing, even down to the fact that the seatbelt light on my side wasnt working.. (my06 2.5i)

Ive put the standard air box back in, and the standard bus mufflers, cause that seems to be what they used a scape goat when something went wrong.

So i picked it up, and they told me that the reason it was missing, and running like a bag of s**t, was cause the spark plugs had not been changed since the 50k service.!!! , so yes it was missed at all the services in between then, not to mention when the new motor went in!!

Bit my tongue as he explained to me that it was just missed.... Then before driving off, i notice that my parkers arent working.. a small thing i know, but when i questioned them consultant as to if lights etc are checked he said "yeah they should have been" to which i reply, well i have no parkers.. Oh sorry was the reply, and they were swapped!

Drive from the dealership ( booval ) to the goldy. Just over an hours drive.. the car barely makes it.. back to its popping, missing, surging, basically running like a bag of s**t. Got straight back on the blower to the service department, amongst the attitude i received from ol mate on the other end, tells me i cant get it in till the 21st! And yes, im still keeping my cool...

Drive it back and around home for a couple of days, and its gotten worse. Drive it in to them this morning, telling them that i want my car fixed.. my patients has gone and it needs to be done asap.. i convince him to get me in tuesday, (15th) not good enough i say.. it wont make it that far.. ok he said.. monday..

i let him know that its not good enough and that i will be making some phone calls.. and i left.

Drive the car down to southport suby, and Ryan in there was more than helpfull, i explained my situation to him, and told him i was purely after a second opinon on the proceedings. he too was pretty booked out, so he gave me the number for subarus complaint line, cause the shake of his head told me he too was not impressed. He aslo took the computer out to the car, and hooked it up to see if he could work something out, nothing really came up, but he puckered his face up and said yeah somethings not right. reset the idle computer, and that was about all he could do.

Got onto graeme, (cheers by the way ) who put me onto zupps in mt gravatt.. spoke to the gentleman there who was more than helpfull, and with a description of the issue, he apologised and said he couldnt get me in till wednesday, with a loan car.... i know.. after the original monday, but i might actually get a working car out of this mob.

Phoned back up the previous dealer, asked them to print me out an entire listing of my service history, as it has all been with them, and that i will pick it up in the morning, and to cancel my booking, as i am taking my business elsewhere.. again with the attitude, and the lack of intrest in being on the phone.

Now in saying this, ive never been inpolite, never been rude or demanded anything, till today. ive never expressed my dissatisfaction with their service till today, so its not been the way i have been to them that has resulted in this.. At the end of the day, the inconvenience of taking the car nearly an hour away, compared to 20 mins, for the sake of customer service, im happy to do it..

But how long must ones fuse last when not only do i have continuous faults with the car, but get nothing but hassles when i try to get it fixed, and be made to feel as tho, something falling apart in my car, is my fault..

ok rant over, and if you have read this far, thankyou for your patients and time

Just so you know, an Air Flow Meter (AFM) problem won't get logged in the computer and sounds alot like the symptoms your saying the car has.

What brand and type (dry/oiled etc) of air filter did you have before?

To try out that theory, disconnect the AFM while the car is idling and see if that makes a difference, if it runs/idles worse its more than likely not the AFM, it it doesn't change (very slight hesitation when you 1st disconnect it is normal) its probably it.

Could be a fueling issue too.

hope the new mob can sort it out for you asap. i would have lost my temper waaaaaay earlier.

i had a problem with a new vy i bought, got a bit of the runaround from the dealer, straight to the holden complaint line and they sorted it out asap. changed to a new holden service centre after that, they put grease on my red leather interior? never had my car serviced at holden again. big dealers are too impersonal and expensive with their service imo.

doesnt sound like they had anyone working on it, to miss the plugs for that many services.

i get the same thing when i take my car to subaru interactive. i'm lucky my car isnt that new, because i just do all the servicing myself, atleast i know that it gets done.
i love subbies, but most places that sell them know nothing when it comes to customer service. apparently the GM of subaru australia has the same surname as me, so i might go in and scare them one day

hopefully the new places sorts it all out for you and something good comes outta all thiss.

good luck mate

Mate thats cr@p!@@@

Hopefully you have it sorted with the new mob.

I must admit. It is VITAL that with any car that you buy, you have to have a service centre that knows what the hell to do with you type of car and one that actually does what they said they have done.

It doesn't matter if its a commonbore or a highly tuned B4, if you have a moron working on the car it will turn to sh!t.

Bad service is the worst thing to deal with, I can understand your situation. Had a similar thing gettting Suby to install a clutch on my old RS, had it back and forth so many time they might as well have started paying me a salary. I think first up I was too polite and too nice about it all, in the end I just snapped and told them to fix it and fix it right. The mechanic I know there was on leave and the day he got back is the day the job got done right, makes you wonder  - and as you said, probably the guy that usually sweeps the floor and buys the lunches for everyone was given the job.

Hehe. So you found it ok??? Wasn't sure if I gave you good enough instructions. Yes, Ryan is extremely helpful; you won't/shouldn't have any dramas with them. Will your car be up and running right for your cruise Kurt??? Or does Charlie want to ride in my car????yikesk: jk

Don't get to excited about booking it in with Zupps Mt gravatt.

I swung past there on Saturday to find out the costs of getting the 100K (got 72 on the clock - but it's a time in use thing) service done on my B4 and about getting a loaner.

"Hi, I'd like to find out the costs involved in getting my B4 serviced"

"Is that a 2.5L or a 3L?"

:suicide2:

Almost walked out the door there and then.

oh dear

i guess if anything, its a start to something surely better than what im getting..

And Ross LLewellen fuled the fire more today.. i phoned them up on friday to get a print out of my entire service history, and to cancel the origional booking i had made for today (monday) and told them i would come in and pick it up.

go in there today, ask for it, they give me a one page "summary" of when the car has come in... i said nope, need the lot, all the tax invoices for everything that has been done on the car in your workshops. he said, i dont know hwo to do it.. i said why didnt you say anything on the phone when we rang and asked for it 3 days ago? he shrugged. i said to both of them, "this is why i rang up, so i didnt have to stand around waiting, and getting stuffed around more while you work out how to do your job." in the end i got the print outs, basically thrown at me, when he said here you go, in a very sour tone.

that place is now in for a verbal raping. :butcher:   here comes cranky kurt
