I drive work vehicles during the week so my b4 regularly doesn't get driven for 3 or 4, sometimes 5, days, never had a prob with the battery going flat. Its also got one of them gsm pager things going all the time as well as the keypad alarm but i don't think it would use much juice. Had a brand new battery put in when i bought the car in July so maybe thats why it lasts, looks like a bigger than standard batt to. If it wasn't a billion degrees outside i'd go have a look at the specs:D  How old is ya battery? maybe thats all the prob is?

No the key pad doesn't drain the battery - you have a battery that can't hold charge.

Time for a new one

sorry to disagree with you kosti, but the keypad does drain your battery slowly.....thats how i got my flat battery

as long as you take your car for a good drive once every two weeks you should be ok....but flat battery in 3-4 days....definately not right

oh and subaru will charge you heaps to change the battery..should be able to do it yourself BLACK BEAUTY

Sorry Kosti but Joe is right....
But then again it would take ages for the keypad and the LED light to drain the battery flat so the car wouldnt start.....

If a battery goes flat in 3-4 days you either have a slow drain...only guessing here but could be an old battery or a stereo component you had instaled or even a glavbox light or door light...highly unlikely on the last 2 but never know....

they keypad and the little LED light only drain about 0.4 of an amp and tolorance is 0.6 so cant be big...just wonder in to your local auto electrician and buy a battery from them either a Century or super charge buy it off them coz their stock gets a turn over and the batteries are new...if you go to supercheap or places like that their stock of batteries sit on the shelf for only god knows how long and the battery life is reduced....

Edit: the only other thing that could be doing it that quick would be the regulator inside the Alternator i could tell you how to test it but if you stuff it you will kill the reg and be up for an alternator....

Cheers

Jovan

and just a quick add on (im a mechanic)  doesnt matter how new a battery is they can always be faulty from factory, eg. dead cell (not holding charge)
and sometimes not even charged from factory, happens quite often so always test charge when fitting new one with multimeter smile just a little tip

How would you test with a multimeter? Test the volts? Cheers in advance..
yeah basically as you said set the multimeter to volts and test how much charge is has from factory most are normal (around the 12v) some have been as low as 3 volts from factory(not charged very well) so it just pays to give a quick two second check before you wack it in, and always test if the alternator is charging when you have replaced a battery smile

Re: Key Pad Imobilizer.

with a multimeter it just gives you a reading of the battery condition which still gives you idea what charge is in it...but it dosent tell you if the battery will hold charge for that you need a battery load tester....but yes always make sure check charging when new battery is replaced....

correct, i didnt mention it because not very many people have a load tester hahaha
but follow what subarujunkie and i wrote and youll never have a problem with a faulty battery! :good:
