ISSUES WITH LIBETY B4 SECURITY SYSTEM

  Top of Page

I just want to know if anyone else has this issues with there keypad alarm system. I beleive its called a Brandt sytem, with the keypad etc.

Every now again, I punch in my code, the lights on the keypad turn off as they are meant to, however, the engine ready light does not switch on.

The car cranks however does not turn over. The way I solve the problem is by opening the door and slaming it shut then the light seems to appear. This makes me think a loose wire somewhere.
Giving me the shits. Does anybody else have this issue? If so, have you had it fixed and where?

Subrau want to charge me $500 to get it looked at.

For that price i'd call subaru and tell em to get f*cked, rip it out and get an aftermarket one. I haven't used mine in 2-years since it sh1t itself but haven't got around to installing an aftermarket.

lol... That’s pretty much what I told him. He reckons they are pretty complicated and there is a lot of labour involved to look at. Is there any way just to switch the thing off? I read a bit about them and they seem to be rubbish!

yeh I can't remember the exact code/sequence but its in the user manual. I'm sure there was another recent thread on this topic that you might be able to search for.

Welcome to the "I hate brant" club.

Pretty sure 90% of all WRX/B4 owners in Australia are in it tongue

Mine goes into sleep mode, and I have to wake it to start the car. Regardless of my battery voltage. Other than that it seems to work once it is on. But yeah, have a look around here, and google it, you will quickly realise you aren't alone.

I didn't want to, but it is looking like I'll have to take mine to an auto-electrician to either get it bypassed or install a mongoose system or something like that, to rip it out and replace it. But there goes my budget for doing the wheels - living with it for now because I can still start and drive it without any problems, but its the day when the car wont start or cuts out on me, that I am not looking forward to. Really a shame that something so simple can get in the way of driving these cars.

Best thing I ever did was to rip mine out of my B4 two weeks after I bought the car.
for the first 2 weeks I had the car, it played havoc with me not starting the car 99% of the time.
Cost me $120 to get it all ripped out of the car by Autobarn. - CHEAP AS!!! (It is a bit of a bitch to get it out, as there is apparent a 7 point immobilizer system in it)
Haven't put an aftermarket in yet.
