Import Monster

Hi there Guys, can some one tell me how Import Monster works. Do you have to set up an account with them or something like that and are they good to deal with.

Yes.

You set up an account to which you can then "bid" for things on Yahoo! Japan Auctions (other sources, no idea?). If you win bids, you can then pay for the item through Import Monster etc...

The best way to look at it is as if Import Monster is your "representative" on Yahoo! Japan Auctions, looking after bids, your payment etc etc.

I can figure out the freight and things like that, I hav`nt set up an accout yet, I thought I would look into it just in case I see something I like. Hence the inquirey.

No. Theres an option on the item page your browsing to calculate delivery to Aus by various methods and size of items. You select the category and it automatically calculates total cost at current price shipped.

Remember import monster also charge commission on final auction price of the product..

Basically you pay 1.25 times the final auction price, not incl delivery, which can make it uneconomical at times http://www.ozliberty.com/forums/images/icons/icon13.gif, otherwise it is a great site to browse and see what prices are really like in japan..

Just wish i had a yahoo japan a/c so i could deliver to a local address http://www.ozliberty.com/forums/images/icons/icon14.gif

Indeed it is but you get that when its coming in from Japan. Think of the freight, import taxes etc etc. I'm more than happy with the prices. The items I've bought through them have actually been a little cheaper then the original price. All up, I've been refunded around $100 between 3 items. Thing is, Daniel and Aaron could be sly about it and keep it and no one would be any wiser. But the fact they are prepared to pass back the savings to myself has earn't them plenty of kudos from me. I'm not saying everyone will get this happening to them, but for what its worth, I've had a great experience using them and will continue to use them.:Derisive:

I like IM, there's a crap load of parts that i want, but the shipping does scare the bejesus out of me!

a question for the IM ppl, what size is a set of sideskirts/rear lip/front lip? the descriptions are good when your buying a turbo / wheels etc, but for body parts its a bit hard to gauge if its worth my while!

Cheers

Are you referring to the category guide for shipping? For a set of sideskirts/rear lip/front lip/front bar etc it would be Sea/Container 'C', for something like a front grill then EMS/Air 'B' or Sea/Container 'B'. A full body lit is Sea/Container 'E'.

I've found it pretty easy to follow - if you do happen to choose a 'larger' category for what you have purchased, then I'm sure the IM boys would refund you the difference.

I don't think EMS/Air is viable for larger items ie. if the items aren't too big it would be too expensive anyway.

It does help alot cost wise though being able to pick up from the warehouse here in Melb when it arrives. wink

Is IM's main warehouse in Melbourne? Do they have a pick up option up here in Brisbane or Gold Coast, I have set-up an account and love browsing parts, RX front bars going for $50-$60. Can't wait to actually test them out.

Pretty sure they have the one warehouse in Melbourne at Ringwood - were they to have a pickup point in Brisbane etc it would still require freighting items up for you to collect and you would still pay a charge for the freight to Brisbane.

I've also had excelent dealings with the boys from IM.

If anyone of you e-mail them now, i would be very surprised if you didnt get a reply within 20 minutes.
They are very proffesional and will follow everything up ASAP.

Heck, when i had trouble activating my account, Daniel rang my mobile phone and got it all setup within the hour.
I seriously have never encounted service like that from an online distributor before.
