I've not yet bought...

  Top of Page

Hi all.

I've registered here to do some homework before I buy.
So I've got some questions.

New job = new car so...I'm looking at MY07 LibGT-B Wagon.

Q1 - Which is the best dealer in Perth to buy from? not just for price but aftersale offerings too.
Q2 - If money didn't matter, what would you have them add to stock?
Q3 - Anybody leasing? If so who's good/bad?

Finally - any reason why I shouldn't buy this car?

Thanks Gut.

I was also wondering if, seeing as the wagon doesn't have the rear bumper vents of the sedan - are they purely cosmetic? If not, why are'nt they on the wagon and can they be fittted?

Most people seem to recommend Subaru Mandurah & Ozzy park & say to stay away from City Subaru in Vic Pk, but...........:Dntknw:
P.S. Go for a red Blitzen Wagon......................Pure horn.

Thanks for that d_g.
As it happens Vic Park is the only garage I've been to purely because it's the closest, but I will definately be checking out the others. Are City & Melville the same company?

Also, AFAIK red isn't a colour option on the '07, though I've not spoken to a dealer about the details yet.

Peel is always the cheapest, but is a bit of a drive...

Ozzy Park is where I would be going if you can't get down to peel.

red blitzen's are awesome - the wheels are just sweet!

Re: I've not yet bought...

Shouldn't be too bad getting down to Mandurah, the motherinlaw lives in Dawesville so am down there fairly regular anyway.
When you say cheaper - cheaper by how much? I suppose even a saving a $1k means I can spend more on upgrades :new_russi

So can anyone help with these questions?

Anybody leasing? If so who's good/bad?

Cheers folks, I'm starting to want this more and more each day.

Do you want to mod the car?

As some leases wont let you mod it.

I couldn't say exactly how much cheaper but a good mate of mine, who sells cars at one of the previously mentioned dealers, assured me it would be worthwhile making the trip to peel.

Re: I've not yet bought...

re modding - I'm not sure, I guess I would want to drive it first and see how it goes.
This will be my first 'turbo', and my first brand new motor. In fact it'll will be my first for a lot of things - suby, wagon, awd, turbo, new...

If I find that I'm simply not satisfied with it and do want to mod it, I can wait until the end of the lease and buy it and then mod it. I am considering a 2 year lease so i can trade in time for the new gen liberty in 2009.

nik - thanks for being candid. it's appreciated - I'm down there either this or next weekend so might try and book a test drive.

well I was passing by with a couple of hours to spare yesterday, so i popped in to City Subaru to get a pricing quote. Had a good chat to the guy and came out with a reasonable figure for leasing quote, and a pretty good idea of just what extras I want on the GT-B.

I also found out that there will be 300 GT STi's delivered to AUS in March - I want one. :man_in_lo
List price $67k... :bomb:

Peel don't have any GTb's in for me to test drive  anyway personal circumstances prevent me from buying right now - still damn interested though.

Got a couple of n00b questions - when someone uses the abbreviations NA & TT (those 2 particularly, I'm sure there are others) what do they stand for?
Is there a glossary anywhere on the site?

It's not the standard model - it's the Blitzen model.  Basically a std car with a few extra bits (bodykit/wheels/interior tweaks) and painted red.

Here's a pic of a MY06 Blitzen model:

The dealer I spoke with didn't mention the Blitzen, even when i asked about whether a red wagon would be available even on import...

NA - naturally aspirated ( non turbo )

TT - twin turbo.

Welcome.... You mentioned that you'd been put off leasing at the moment. Is getting into a Liberty still on the cards for you???

I still want the Lib - I will still be leasing it - seems the most cost effective way of going about getting a car like that. I just need to wait for my permanent visa to be approved before I can get a lease. I also need to convince the wife:girl_devi  that the new GTb will be worth it as it could be around $1200 a month all in (insurance, servicing, fuel etc).
So it looks like I've at least another 6 weeks to wait before I can start crunching numbers again. :suicide:

Bugger! _ Oh well, patience is a virtue! I know that when it comes time to upgrade the RX, I'll be going for a GT b-spec wagon - they are tops!

Re: I've not yet bought...

I went looking around a few places after a new rex before i bought my liverty 2 months ago.  I found the sales reps in most places in perth were absolute tools who really knew nothing about the cars they were selling (i had to tell one about the WRP10 and new WRX tuned by STI!).  That said, the guys at Melville were excellent.  Knew heaps, weren't pushy, generally great guys.

Money no option.....  i'd definately go the suspension and breaks.  the engine tunes and stuff are pretty mild and you can get better tunes elsewhere, but the sti suspension and break packages are what i'd go for.

in regards to leasing, i ended up going through smartsalary in vic park on a novated lease.  really good option if your work will let you do it, but a brand spanking new GT might be above the 'luxury car' threshold, so you might be s**t out of luck.  sad

finance????  who knows.

Well.
Back to square one almost for me. I couldn't get the lease I wanted in the end, got to wait another 18mths, and had actually decided on a Golf GTi as it was considerably cheaper.
However I am now in the market for a used car to put me on until I can get what I really want.
I've seen a good looking Gen3 00 Heritage sedan with very low km's on it for sale and a B4 that also looks good money but has a buyer already I think.
Any downsides to the Heritage? It's Auto...but that will please the wife.

You just outlined the number one down side big_smile
Also I don't think the heritage has a rear wing does it? Apart from that a very nice car though.
