I need help with setting up Windows Media 11.

  Top of Page

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me with the problem I'm currently having.  I have the following error message displayed on screen when I try to play a DVD:

Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card.

Now I know it hard to explain easily over the internet but I will try to answer any questions to the best of my limited knowledge of computers.
I have resently installed Windows Media 11 after my PC crashed and the part I can't understand is how can it be asking for a Video Card driver update if I don't have a seperate video card installed (It's built into the processor).

If it's easier add me to MSN layframe@bigpond.net.au,  BUT I NEED HELP AARRHHHH.

Cheers Kenny

Kenny,

You can update your video driver despite it being an onboard chipset compared to a PCI video card. Go to the website for the manufacturer of your motherboard or the video driver and look for new/updated display drivers.

What kind of DVD are you trying to play? Is it an original DVD or a copy? Is your DVD player region protected and the DVD set to play in another region?

It might also be worthwhile updating your DVD drivers and downloading the latest direct X and DivX drivers.

Highly recommend you grab the k-lite codec pack. This has every video and audio driver you could possibly imagine in it.

It also has Media Player Classic. Its a slimmed down version of media player and much less sucky to use than WM11.

Start with that, see how you go.
