I tow with my 2005 RB wagon which is rated at 1800KG braked.
Boat and trailer wight up to 1500kg and I have a dual axl trailer with 4 x disk brakes.
Bare in mind you can add 200 - 300 kgs easily with fuel, people, and equiptment.

So does the Liberty tow ok? Id say yes for 1tonne and under.

Do I think the car is big enough to safely tow over that weight. Im leaning towards no now.

Just be real careful about pulling up quickly. Interia is a bitch.

Not sure if you have a manual but I've done my clutch from towing and just replaced with an Exedy HD.
Also watch your oil levels they love to chew through it when towing.

Either way im looking to ditch to Liberty for towing and looking at turbo diesel V8.
