by 1993Heritage on 22-09-05 05:07 PM 317699km. Not complaining much either. Mechanic said something about the first-generation Liberty having the record for the car which ran the longest distance before something went wrong. |

yeh i did the timing belt @ my 100000kms service, the BIG service as most people call it lol :meeting: along with the full service, all fluids changed, all suspension parts inspected etcetc, and a new set of front brale pads, it costs me $1500ish :bad: sucks i know, but if u want to keep your car for a long time - like i think i'll do since i enjoy it so much - you migt as well give it the proper services etc. keep in mind this 100000km service was at a subaru dealer, it may have been less if i had taken it to a local mechanic or soemthing. but budget around $1000-$1500 in case |

Not exactly rocket science, changing the belt itself only takes about 10 minutes provided you do all the prep, just find a mechanic who has worked on subis & will do a homer for a carton......."provided it's not warranty" and if you have a small amount of mechanical knowledge, take out radiator, alt & air belts off, main pulley off, timing belt covers off, take off tensioner, buy 3 new belts & all your oils & new coolant, you should get away with it for less than $600. It's all the prep that costs so much & they probably charge you for plugs & air filter which you may not need. "BUT" I hate paying people to do something I can either do or at least attempt to do, so if you are not confident DON'T try. |
