Just curious to know what previous rides people here have owned and why you were converted to Liberty drivers.I myself have had a host of old cars (1970's) and just got sick of working on them and pumping endless amounts of dollars into mods.My in-laws gave me and my wife a 1988 Subie wagon for the mrs to learn to drive in,but she couldn't get used to the manual 'box so when my mates sisters auto liberty came up i grabbed it and was converted instantly.

My previous rides include (in order of appearance):
1977 Mini Clubman S (1310cc stroker!)
1973 XB Falcon GT Coupe (Big $$$$ spent,377kw atw!)
1987 XF Falcon
1992 Chev Camaro 5.7
1988 XF Falcon Ute
1992 Hilux Surf
1977 XC Falcon GS 351
1988 Subie Sportswagon

and my current liberty.

increasing fuel costs helped the decicion, especially when my GT only took avgas and cost $200+ to fill up

Re: History

1982 JB Camira. Ugh, it was terrible.
1995 Corolla Seca. I still miss that car. It was great, but getting old and tired, and the exhaust drone was just plain terrible.

So after Dad got his Liberty and raved on about how good AWD was I decided to have a look at them. I really wanted a WRX but insurance was gonna be a pain, and car was a little small, so I had a look at the Gen 3 Liberty and bought the first RX I found @ a decent price.

So even after 12 months I still feel the Lib isn't "mine" so to speak, cos I haven't done any mods or personalising. Yet. But one day that will change.

My dream car is still an AE101 Toyota Corolla FXGT. They're hotttt.

77, toyota carona with a 1.8l hilux engine in it, great fun on the farm, till I blew the motor.

Then an 86 Sigma Wagon, blew the 2l with in weeks of getting my license big_smile
So I put a 2.6l in her, went awesome, untill a x-trail decided to pull in front of me at 70kms sad

after that, an 84 sigma wagon motor was shaged.

Then I was on the look for a lib.
picked her up, and have not looked back big_smile

Re: History

glad to see i'm not the only one who's a sucker for the oldies.had the most fun in my old V8's but can't beat the ease of driving in the newer cars.always good to hear of the dodgy modifications aswell.......cut springs, welded diffs (ahhh the old CIG lockers hehe),cutting your exhaust off at the diff, fitting hornet scoops, and we can't forget the safest mod of all......lowering blocks on leaf springs, especially when you see some minitrucks these days cruising round with 2 sets of blocks stacked one on top of the other.people spend thousands on a car stereo but won't spend a couple of hundred bucks to safely reset springs...............idiots!:Dntknw:

Re: History

same shape as the aussie one, but 2 door, 20 valve 1.6 ( 120ish kilowatt ), twin exhaust etc standard. you might not think much of it, but to me it's a realistic dream car (realistic = cheap).
