highway patrol stinks!

  Top of Page

hi all,

the other day i took my missus to say good bye to her family in briby island (i live on the gold coast) and i was shocked as to the welcoming from the local authority.

the first thing a seargant highway patrol officer (named S.g. Davis) said to me was "i have had reports of u driving recklessly" (1st time in my life) then my missus hopped out the car and said to her nephews (age 7 and 11) kids hop out, the officer then said "keep ur mouth shut" and then gave her aunty a few words of encouragement.

the first thing that was said was wheres your rear windscreen wiper? he then went on and on and defected me the following:
1: tyres are not load rated (legal is 88 but mine are 85)
2: the exhaust is to loud (compared to mates 85db mine is like a kitten)
3: my bucket seats dont have a mod plate (neither does the motor)
4: no rear windscreen wiper (the motor was stuffed so i removed it)
5: i dont have plumb back BOV (honestly. . . who does?)

$300 in fines and loss of 1 point, not bad considering but the attitude didnt make any1 happy. i have 28 days to fix the lot and prove it with receipts.

to make my day better on the way home my turbo decided to s**t itself and the car over heated. i now have to fork out money for this, the fine and some how get it to a cop station. the car started makeing a ticking noise on start up and im begining to loose faith in moddified cars.

any help on any of these would be greatly appreciated and feed back on past/present experiences.

What a bummer of a day mate. It's best not to argue when they are in that mood, and it sounds like you didn't say much.
It'll all come good.

Looks like you and your missus have been taught a lesson.

Never mess with highway patrol.

Never.

No sympathy for the defects.

time for a nice, simple camry.

mate, thats unfortunate.
i havnt done it before, but id do this.
You "sell" this car to your parents or your girlfreind.
Borrow your parents car and drive to the station & show the pig your completed transfer form.
Now you dont have to fix your defects and still driving your pimpmobile.
I assume hes not a local pig as hes highway so your chances of getting harrassed for scammin him are very low.

And cahmon that pig is the first person you call when you are getting bashed or robbed, remember that.

In relation to the defect, don't let him put you off cars, sometimes you come across diks like that, but most are normal.

I don't know how the defects work in QLD so I can offer no advice.

Good luck

Cops in syd are sometimes a little easier when it comes to minor rubbish, compared to the f**-whits you get here.

Yeah, i know what your getting at, but i have my reasons.
i was burgled when i was 16, the burglers took $800 and my stereo, i called the filth, waited hours and hours for them, when they turned up, they looked around said theres not much they can do and left. just a waste of time, i would have had more hope if i prayed to jesus.
A while back now, my freinds and i were harrased for years for hanging out, we were stopped and searched constantly, abused, arrested for bulls**t, and over the years ive had that many bulls**t fines.
sure, i had a car stolen a fews years ago and reported it, but only because of insurance reasons. I never expect them to do anything about, or even look at the scene for evidence or witnesses.
their primary function is to raise revenue for the state.
Ill never need a cop.

in my opinion sure they may stop the place from being mob rule sure through no fault of their own, but other than than they are useless corrupt powercrazy arrogant bullys, who pick on young people because they havnt learnt to not take their s**t yet, and can only solve a crime by stumbling over the solution in the dark, and whose primary function is to raise revenue for the state.
Ill never need a cop.

Sounds like you've had a number of unfortunate dealings with the po-po in the past, which is not cool.. I'm not saying its right, but still bare in mind that there's bad apples in every bunch and there's still cool cops out there!.. SkoobyGT's one of them! wink

Mate I really don't care and people are entitled to their opinion.

But as with anything in life, there are some good, some bad, and it's those few who give the rest a bad name.

I even agree that HWY are revenue raisers, I see it every day them giving out tickets etc, but I look at that as traffic enforcement not real frontline in your face policing.

People get the sh$#s at why we can't do certain things or fingerprint a brick or take action and charge someone because most people dont understand the law, So many people make complaints or this and that because they don't understand legislation and what police need to prove to establish a Prima Fascie case.

You wouldn't tell a dentist or a doctor or a mechanic how to do their job, dont tell a police officer, because they should always know more than you.

One last thing, Cahmon look at all the problems you have had with the police in the past. You appear to have had many bad experiences. You have to ask yourself what the common denominator is in all those and make a decision on who may have the problem.

HWY Revenue raisers

how close to bribie island were you? really sorry to hear of this situation. i live at bribie and have not seen a highway patrol car out that way ever, maybe i am just searching for the red FPV/HSV cars, what sort of car were you pulled over by if you don't mind me asking? Redcliffe police are regulars out that way, those are most likely to be the ones you "met" they are terribly arrogant, rude people who are known for defecting for empty washer bottles and loose wires hanging lower that 100mm from the road. The local police are catching on and have introduced a dob in a hoon policy at the moment, means that if you dare drive somewhere , no matter how quietly you try, the older folks watch, and stare, i think they (police) are slowly trying to steer us away from modifying cars all together by cracking right down on us.

moreyfield road was where i was allegidly "driving recklessly" just out the front of hungry jacks. it wasnt a red HSV it was a VY SS a white 1, and known by the locals as a redcliff cop your description sumed this cop up to  the T.

i cant believe how many ppl actualy have had bad experiences, i dont blame the cops but while the cop was inspecting my car another gye came running to the cop and said"theres a gye with a gas tank and holding a litter to it at the bus stop" the cop meerly replied "im busy call another cop" whats more life threatening?
