Hi there...'01 B4 in Melbourne

  Top of Page

Hi all, here's my 2001 B4 that I picked up just a few weeks ago.

The previous owner had some work done to it and I've got to say I'm pretty happy with my purchase (despite the username!)
Mods done so far (by previous owner) are:
- Cat-back exhaust
- Hyperflow TMIC
- Upgraded fuel pump
- ECUTEK type-2 reprogram
- Changed wheels; don't know exactly

I've got nothing to compare to since I have to admit I've never driven a stock B4, but I'm really taken with the way the twin turbo system works on this car...most of the time!

My previous car was an '02 Impreza RS which became a bit of a project car with turbo kit amongst other things.  That was good fun until it blew a hole through a piston crown.  I bought a new short-block to go into that but then decided it was probably smarter to get a better base to work off; hence the B4.

So sitting in boxes in the garage waiting for me to get the time are:
- EJ257 short-block with CP forged pistons.
- Apexi AVC-R boost controller (not even sure if this is usable/desirable on the TT yet).
- Garrett GT2876R turbo.

Whether the Garrett turbo can find a place in the equation I'm not sure; there's a fair bit I haven't figured out yet!

I quite like the look of the wheels with the extra offset (I'm guessing they're Impreza STI wheels; anyone know?) but I'm not really a big fan of the colour.  One of the first things I think I'd like to do is get them powder coated dark grey or black.  If anyone can suggest a good place in Melbourne for powder coating I'd like to hear it.

Anyway, hi.  Hope to learn a bit from here.
-Mark.

Oh, and if anyone's interested, here's the dyno chart that came from the ECUTEK reprogram.  I'm a bit sceptical about the lower "standard B4" line; I think they like to overemphasise the differences:

Hey mate, welcome. The lower standard power curve is right. My 02 B4 was 126kw standard before tune with S&J. After Ecutek 2 was 153kw.
