Hi Hi from the "Garden City"

  Top of Page

Thought I'd better say hello, thing keeps bugging me every time I log in! Been reading the forums for a while now, great community of people that can only get better!
Proud owner of a Gen II Heritage Wagon, not that fast but great for cruising! One downer though was reverse stopped working about a month after I bought it (it's an Automatic), nothing too major, I'll get it fixed when funds allow. Dad's got a Gen 1 so I've been into Liberty's for years!
Anyways, look forward to chatting to everyone on the forums and maybe I'll join you for the Sunshine Coast Cruise next month! See ya!

Thanks! Yeah it causes a bit of a headache. A little forward planning has seen me through so far! I posted a pic in the "MyRide" section. I'll take some better ones this weekend.

Might be interested. How much would I be looking at? I'll probably get a rebuilt one and have it swapped. Distance could be a problem too! I appreciate it all the same though!

Welcome to the site mate!

No reverse, now that's weird, have u changed the oil? I'm no expert but it might not be that serious.

Still I'm sure Pete's gbox may do the trick if it turns out much more than that to reco your original gbox.

Good luck Gaz.

Wow, I may just take you up on that. I have to get some quotes but that offer is very tempting. Are you sure it's compatible? Mines a 95 Model, sometimes they change things like wiring between years.

Thanks! Yeah I did, but they were very vague about how much it would cost me, anywhere from $300 to $2000! I'd prefer a slighly firmer price before I commit! Needless to say, I didn't leave my baby with them! I'm considering an exchange unit (from a different Auto place) but I haven't checked on pricing yet. I think it'll be cheaper and quicker than pulling mine to bits. It's done quite a few K's (230000+) so it might need some other work too. I might take alexxx up on his offer and get them to fit it for me.

Thanks Kosti! Haven't done so yet, but I'll give it a go before I decide to do anything else. I checked with Subaru, they reckon it's a waste of time but they've been wrong in the past so I won't believe everything they tell me. Fluid that's in there looks pretty healthy though. Trouble is you can only drain about half of it, the rest sits in the torque converter so it's impossible to get it all out without pulling it apart. And I'm not real keen on that idea...smile
Thanks everyone! Hopefully I can get it sorted before the cruise!

Re: Hi Hi from the "Garden City"

I got a quote for a rebuild. The place I went to doesn't stock exchange boxes for Libertys. Around $2800 is what they reckon. I asked them what it would cost to install a box if I got one, they reckon about $400 for that. So I think that I'll take Alexxx up on his offer! It'll take a little while for me to put the funds together. once that's done I'll contact you so we can arrange this litle venture. :help:

If he's serious then let him have it. It's going to take me a few weeks to get funds together as I have a few other things on my plate at the moment. Gettin it here could also be an expensive challenge. Plus rego next month......:comando:
