Hi 2nd Liberty Thought I'd Do It Right

  Top of Page

G'day guys been around a while just reading and troubleshooting mostly thought I’d introduce myself and my car me, I’m 20 still on my green P's 3rd year Apprentice Network Electrician so I know my electrics with a keen interest and knowledge in sound systems, with a metal and wood working knowledge. Living in northern Sydney. (If u doesn’t want to read this skip to modifications tongue)

And my car my pride and joy tongue this is my second with my first being a late 04 Gen 4 automatic in dark blue with 130,000 R.I.P. sad my second car I wanted to be a liberty mainly cause I love the liberty and I knew the car shape so well so out with all the modifications in the old and into the new within the first 2 weeks

My second car I knew what to look for, so I bought a silver my05 manual safety pack with a rear spoiler and a alarm system with only 45,000 kms done and the major service completed (the last car this not being done till I bought it though dealer told me otherwise) .

a brief history on the car the only major damage panel wise is a big scratch/gouge up the left side skirt from previous owner in a car park and the a egg damage to the right rear door (don’t know how that is but whatever).

Clutch/Flywheel problem :
This is my first manual and after a few hours with my mate showing me the fine art of hill starts I was on my own ha-ha, probably stalled it at least 5 times a day once I got the hang of it I let a mate drive it only to find I have a stuffed clutch/flywheel, with no experience with clutches before I thought the screeching noise above 2.5 rpm was normal (apparently not) was still drivable but it made hill starts a real challenge and every boy and his corolla could get me off the line.
Solution:
After a month of saving I had it fixed now a single mass heavy duty clutch and flywheel kit (Subaru now makes them in kits it’s such a common problem )problem solved.
Existing Problems:
Been a great car only other real problem is a intermittent problem with the radiator fans they have stopped twice (is this common )

List of Modifications:
Exterior
Set of HP design Onyx 19'x 8'in shadow chrome from Tempe tyres (great gallery of Subaru's and great service)

Exhaust system 2.5' cat back in mild steel split to dual 5' hurricane cannons (sounds great)

Note : in all my doors and parcel shelf there is a lot of sound deadening and egg foam just really hard to show it

2ch High Lower converter behind head-unit (in parallel to rear) with a RCA cable running up the driver’s side with the remote control cable
4guage cable running up passenger side with acc wire 80amp fuse and negative 4 gauge lugged to seat bracket

2 Farad capacitor wired in parallel 4guage cable
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs1337.snc4/162931_474544468402_723138402_5892874_4455361_n.jpg yes I realize capacitor is not straight ops

Fm modulator hard wired (for iPod/phone) wouldn't rate it but it works till I find the funds for full Head Unit replacement if u want details but ask
Custom control switches for interior led strips and Fm modulator and Amplifier (wired in series to acc)
http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc4/hs791.snc4/67148_474544378402_723138402_5892868_2659254_n.jpg

Powering all this is stock alternator + a Optima Yellow top Deep cycle battery (was in the auto thought I’d better get a good battery than have no way to start the car) manual being less of a problem

That’s all so far future plans are

    lowing,

    strut bracing,

    brakes,

    earthling kit,

    HID or LED fogs,

    Intake (better noise and response),

in car navigation/entertainment unit double din (either replacement or otherwise)

4ch amp (depending on HEAD UNIT),

custom sub-woofer fiber glassing job (for better use of space),

    turbo conversion (maybe)

thanks guys hope to be a helpful member of this forum
