Hey guys,

my name is Darren. At the moment I Drive a GT forester, But looking to also buy a Liberty B4....

Just wondering can someone point me in the right direction as to how to tune out the "flat spot" that so many ppl talk about.. or is it just that... all talk?.  or even just a thread talking about it...To be honest this is the only thing holding me back at the moment from buying one.. as i want a quiet daily driver...

cheers guys

Hi Darren welcome to the site !
new here myself.
I assume by the flatspot u mean the change over point between primary to secondary turbo. Aka the 'vod' or valley of death. In short the answer is no. A single turbo conversion is an option. I have read that some aftermarket ecu's can improve but not eliminate it. It is less notable in the newer models and not something that would put me off.
I was considering an hks f-con for mine but new tires and a few other niggly issues have put that idea on hold.

Welcome Daz.

I was put off by the VOD (still am a little) but that wouldn't stop me from not buying it for that specific reason only.  Many people on here with B4's have said it may be eliminated (to a point) with a new ECU+tune, and say its less apparent in a manual than the auto.

In all honesty its really not that bad and again, as people have mentioned on other threads, you can drive around it considering its literally within a 500rpm range usually b/w 4500-5000rpm.  But that momentary lag makes the 2nd turbo's kick all that more crazy!  Certainly put a smile on my face when i first experienced it!  :victory:

If thats the only thing holding you back from the purchase, you got nothing to worry about.  Its a perfect everyday cruiser and power is avaliable when needed.

Enjoy the site.

Kev.
