Howdy Chris! Nice neat car, should come up nicely with some mods! smile

And yeh, jump straight to 17s, plenty around for sale and are the best combination of price, handling and appearance.

Cheers,

EG

Hey Chris,
Welcome to the site. You've come to the right place if you want to modify your Suby as there are plenty of guys on here with lots of knowledge who are willing to help, as i'm finding out.
Cheers
Matt.

Thanks all for the welcome

Yeah its a manual, 97,000kms on the clock atm

Was wondering if there was an exhaust system to fit the 97 RX with the EJ25 (headers back)? Have been looking round on the MRT site and can't seem to find anything sad Or can you buy the parts individually?

Welcome Chris.

Any questions feel free to ask.

IMO a 2.25 inch cat back system with a nice straight though muff, will do nicely.

any non-turbo cars exhaust should be no more that 2.25'', otherwise you will be going back in performance,

Re: Hey people

Evil, that not completly true.

You can have 2.5" but there is the chance of loosing back pressure.
It comes down to the bends, and rear muff.

Also a 2.5 on an NA will be bloody loud!!

For a turbo nothing smaller then 3" to get best performance.

Re: Hey people

I asked MRT a while back if they had headers for my EJ25 and they didn't. I then talked to my mechanic (who is a good Subie guy) and he reckons the stock headers are pretty good anyway, so you mainly just need a good 2.25" system from the cat back. I'd still avoid Canon mufflers on non-turbos tho, too damn loud! smile

Evil_rex, if you can't get 3" then IMO don't bother.

EvilGus, I was was pretty sure that MRT did do a full zorst, well they did for the gen 2 anyway. But i would agree with you, that a cat back is the way to go.

Re: Hey people

So a 2.25 with headers is the right choice for the atmo 2.5L platform?

Whats the cost like to do a GT twin turbo conversion? Is this a complete conversion or simply the original engine dressed up...

Thanks

Re: Hey people

what i have seen in other forums is that people go for a second hand legacy motor from japan,  or a wrx engine swap,

a few people on this site have had engine swaps in their libertys.
XX
have a look at www.rslibertyclub.org as their  is a fair bit of info about conversions, but mainly GEN1's

complete conversion, pull out your current motor and stick in the B4 one.
i think from memory starting at around $6,000 minimum or a bit more, i remember someone said it cost and thats including the labour

Just got the car back on the road this morning, it had been in for repairs with a blown head gasket

In the process of trying to replace the stock shifter to an aftermarket MOMO item, but am having difficulties removing the original...Does anyone know how it comes off? (i.e. does it have to be unscrewed, or do you have to use special tools to remove)
