Hey people!

  Top of Page

Hi everyone, my names gomms
i'm new to these forums, i was intro'd by my mate tony.
I just recieved my MY07 Liberty 2.0R manual in arctic white and i'm loving it to death. I go so far out of my way to drive that little bit more every time tongue

I just wanted to ask a question, what you guys know about breaking in a new car? i've read and heard some places ride 1/2 throttle and keep ti under 3000rpm. But some people say the complete opposite, that i must ride it hard to get the piston rings in shape. Just wanted to know your thoughts.

Either way i'm glad to be part of the liberty community!!!

welcome buddy,

in regards to running in your car, belt the crap out of it, it should already be run in from factory, and if it isnt, let the engine know the whole rev range, dont ever keep it at constant revs, which is why its recommended to avoid freeway driving.

ahhh you made it onto the forum big_smile
its tony by the way.

post pics up big_smile

as for running it in.. no idea myself, but what ive heard / read / experience from Nitro RC cars  , is to give it the entire rev range but dont go crazy... keeping it low revs for most of the drive and then just hit it that bit harder in different situations every 5-10 mins or so.. eg. taking off, cruising and then punch it in same gear, downgearing, uphill, downhill. etc.

Thrash it once it's warmed up..  baby it when it's cold..  no different to when it's 10 years old really!

Enjoy and I hope it goes well and welcome to the site..

Two things..

1. Bodykit..

(eg. Don't you just love the grill on this one!?)

Welcome to Ozlib.

Enjoy the forums.

Running, I would give it a good trash, to bed those rings in to prevent oil usage.

Hey blak_4 yeh thats unbelievablei love the grill, i love the rims. i cant wait to buy rims for my 2.0R, i'm thinking the enkei STi ones... their $3400 bucks though.
as soon as i graduate i'm gonna chuck on $10,000 and sell mine and buy a 06 or 07 GT, cannot WAIT!

i jsut took the mrs out now, warm up for 5 mins, below 3000rpm to my mates house, and on the way out 3/4 throttle keeping it below 5,000rpm, LOVED it!

Congrats on the purchase mate! Glad to hear that you love your car already - You'll only become more obsessed as time goes on.

Running in. As was stated before, these are already to run from the factory. There are very few new cars that have a running in period these days.

No matter what age your car is, treat it nice when it's cold, otherwise, let her rip!
