Hey from Perth..

Hey,

Figured this is a good place to start..
just bought myself a new daily in the form of a 94 gen 1 liberty.. povo model dx.. fwd ej22..
while im new to the forum and subaru ownership in not new to modified cars..

Some of my previous cars:
1990 toyota supra manual
mods: built 3lt, trust td06, 3" straight thru exhaust, FMIC, safc.. ~360rwhp @ 18psi

197? toyota t18
mods: 4-2-1 headers, straight thru 2.5" exhaust, welded diff, s13 front suspension, ma61 rear suspension, gutted interior etc.. verly little rwhp..

1984 toyota soarer manual
mods: 2lt turbo conversion, single turbo converison, NA cams, cam gears, SAFC, 440cc injectors, custom single plate, welded diff, s13 front suspension, ma61 rear suspension, straight thru 3" exhaust... 280rwhp @ 16psi

1994 audi 80
mods: custom lowered springs front and rear (very stiff), custom struts all round, stereo gear etc... (daily for a while)

1990 toyota celsior
4lt v8, leather, electrics... basically a massive glorified leather couch..

so now onto my current cars..
1988 toyota soarer.. (BodgePro drift z20)
mods: 1jzgte with custom arias pistons, custom spool rods, HKS 264" cams, OS Giken adjustable cam gears, 550cc injectors, titanium valve springs and retainers, minor supporting head work. modified garett gt35r with .63 rear housing on custom exhaust manifold, tial 44mm external gate, bosch 044 main pump, jza70 feed pump, surge tank, larger volume fuel lines, microtech ltx12s, eboost2, 5 speed r154 manual with custom single plate, HSD coilovers all round 16kg front 14kg rear, whiteline swaybars front and rear, gutted interior, full rollcage (bolt in for now), welded 3.9 diff, straight thru 3.5" to 2x2.5" to 2x4" exhaust (no mufflers no cats)..
painted inhouse by BodgePro in custom blue..
should comfortably make 450rwhp with the small .63 rear housing..

So, now to the liberty..
i initially looked at some RS's as i have always loved the early shape.. unfortunately with a wedding, mortgage and drift car to pay for.. i couldnt justify spending a lot..
i basically said i would spend less than i sold my other daily for..

this car came up..

with some minor work already done: WRX brakes, header back exhaust, aftermarket springs, full RS bodykit (sans hood) it seemed like a nice sensible option for a daily..
the downsides are that it is FWD and NA.. but it will do for now..

plans are to neaten up the body a little and just enjoy a reasonably well handling nice looking daily..although i would like to get the car handling a little nicer.. so maybe some swaybars front and rear will have to be sourced..

the most urgent thing it needs though is some better seats.. the factory liberty seats have next to no lateral support.. i have a spare sparco bucket currently being used as a passanger seat in my soarer.. so i may have to remove that and use it... or look into getting some WRX seats or something.. still undecided..

anyway, that will do for now..

i have to emphasize that my goal is not to turn this into some form of RS faker..
i just want a nice daily which is fun to drive and decent on fuel.. which is something given my last daily did 450k's to a 75l tank.. and my drift car basically needs its own servo..

anyway, i look forward to learning some new things and getting some ideas on here... forgive me for my lack of subaru knowledge.. ill do my best to learn quick..

C&C as well as advice is appreciated..

cheers

Welcome stomps. Nice vehicle history there, the gen1 must seem pretty boring compared!

haha, you'd be surprised..

the car i just came out of was the celsior.. despite having a great motor (4l v8) the weight of the car and the fact it was auto made it about as much fun as drowning..

sure in a straight line my liberty is slow, but i was surprised how well it went through the corners/slow points/round abouts near my place.. (Riverton Super Special Stage)

Would love to have a RWD drive train in that chassis..

ill look into some swaybars and coilovers in the future i think as its not as stiff as i'd like.. but for now its great fun.. for a daily..

i think ill definitely look into either an RS or something in the future..

the alternative is sell the drift car and this.. then salary sacrifice a late model GT.. but then i wouldnt be allowed to modify it.. which would kill me..

edit- I noticed you have STI seats in yours.. given im new to subaru can you tell me if the seat rails swap straight over? also what are they like for lateral support?

Thanks in advance..

Hey,

figured i would update the seat situation.. I got sick of the factory seats just 4 days after getting the car.. replaced with these.

Picked them up yesterday and chucked them in when i got home from work.. took all of about 10 minutes..

They do bolt straight in, but the inner rear bolt lines up with the seatbelt hole, not the factory mount hole.. either way, not a problem..

I simply moved the seatbelt to the factory seat mount hole on each side..

Oh and either somebody has had the seats out before and locktite'd the bolts or subary REEEEAAAAAALY dont want you taking the seats out... tightest factory interior bolts ever.. had to use my rattle gun on interior bolts... MAD SHIT..

Welcome mate. It may be FWD and NA, but it looks to be in great shape! I'll say you got a good catch there.

I have a liberty BD automatic from 1997. I can’t wait to have it running on the road. I need the car to get a job (plumbing). When I have my car and some money. I would love to go driving. Anywhere.  But, I would love to do Tasmania. Also would love at some stage to have a herritage, GT, or legacy front bar and fog lights.
