hey!

  Top of Page

Call me pete, i just picked up a silver MY00 Liberty RX today. After driving around an MY05 liberty 2.5i i just had to have a subaru of my own. I'll be doing the basic mods, then hopefully can afford to do something like RYTONQ has done.

But in the following weeks i'll be, getting a complete car detail, clear side indicators, colour coding the pin stripes, and installing a headunit + all the wiring required, aswell as sound deadening the doors. So when i can afford the rest I've just got to pop them right in.

After that... i dunno, i guess rims, some engine work and then work on the interior.

Only things it has sofar are 20% tint, and some type of exhaust/muffler that he said was a subaru 'sports' muffler.

One question though, when i turn the key, the notch before ignition when everything lights up, is the Check Engine thing supposed to be illuminated. Also when the key is in that position and i press the throttle, some weird electrical noise is made? Not sure if thats right?

welcome pete,

i can't remember off the top of my head about the check engine light, the car manual should tell you. as long as it turns off when the engine starts, its all good.

the weird electrical noise, i'm guessing could maybe be the fuel pump? someone more technical might know.

be great to see your car after the mods are done! make sure to update us on the progress!

Welcome Pete smile

The check engine light will light up, so that is normal.

I dare say that the sound you are here is the fuel pump, as I here the same thing.

White MY02 B4. 2.5LTR, Garrett Turbo, Autronic ECU, PPG gearbox, Brembo brakes... Fun times

Re: hey!

Sofar ive done the following

JVC KD-G615 Headunit
Boston S60 Splits
Boston S65 2way rear fill
Intake resonator removal
NGK Iridium spark plugs
Ryco air filter
Put in injector cleaner, and cleaned throttle body
Cleaned battery terminals
Debadged/stickered

Doing oil filter/oil change tomorrow as the car's hot. Went out and took it for a spin, it starts better and runs better overall.
Trying to source a set of NGK Ignition leads, not sure where to get them?? Anyone?

Will also do a coolant flush also. And earthing mod.

Should this be enough to keep the car happy for a while? What is the cost to get the ecu read by subaru, to get the error codes etc? I just wanna see if there is anything major thats got an issue. The check engine light doesnt go on or anything. Just again the low idle is bothering me. It's not AS bad after i did the above things though.

As for exhaust, the current one drones so fkn much. Anyone know of a good muffler for these cars? Piping i'l get done by my brother, in stainless... for cost of materials only smile.

No performance gains really, i didnt replace that pipe yet. I just did a dodge job and tape it up loll. It makes like a whaaaa noise from bout 3-4.5krpm though. Certainly louder. I'll be getting a stainless bend thing in sometime next week. This is just temporary, i'll eventually get the whole CAI that fits in the guard.

any service done by subaru is costly.. even if you do it yourself the parts are pretty expensive. so i imagine getting the faults read from your ecu will be quite expensive!

Re: hey!

A 50 000kms service for my 2003 RX is $580. I think this is a good price considering its a full checkover, brake fluid replacement and adjust, both diff oil changed, auto fluid changed, engine oil and filter, coolant, plugs, air filter, fuel filter, wheel balance and rotation.

Three hours of work. Ill pay that price.
