Hello from Wollongong

Hello from Wollongong!
I'm Tim, 27, I work as an engineer for Bluescope, but more importantly:
Just thought i'd put some pics up of my wagon.  Only just did the TT conversion 2 weeks ago.  All seems to be running well, except for a few minor niggles that I i am slowly working through.  Most importantly, the tt system seems to be functioning correctly, which was my biggest concern.  Having read several horror stories about trouble shooting the BBOD, i'm glad that mine all works properly!

twin turbo automatic halfcut, 125K on the clock, started it up and it sounded healthy, came with the aluminium bonnet and factory HID's as a bonus.

Nice and unmolested engine bay

The halfcut was about 3in to fit onto my trailer, so we built up a bed of plastic pallets for the cut to sit on.  It was over 6 feet high, probably one of the more bodgey things i've ever done.  But we strapped it down hard and took it easy getting it home.

Loaded up the car with all my tools and towed the whole lot down to mum and dad's property near bombala so I could use the big workshop dad has got set up down there.  Also managed to pickup an entire factory legacy gtb exhaust at the last moment.
I think with the trailer, halfcut plus all our stuff, the car was well and truely overweight.  Performance and braking like this was leisurely to say the least.

intercooler off, what a prick of job it will be to put it back on!

replacement dump pipes bolted up with new subaru gaskets.  Also changed the timing belt while the engine was out.  But i didn't change the belt tensioner, which i'm kicking myself now, cos it needs doing.

I transplanted the entire wiring loom from the halfcut, its the best way to guarentee everything will work properly

Ventilation system back in

Dash mostly back together, love the grandpa spec fake woodgrain!

Whoever cut this car in half decided to cut the door looms, instead of just unplugging them... no idea why. had to splice in the door plugs from the original loom

Bolted up the vacuum tank and remote transmission filter.

The only thing that didn't fit straight together was the factory dump pipes didn't clear the extra bracing that the outback has in the engine bay.  I had to remove the heat and noise sheild and grind a few mm off the back of the pipe seam to fit it in.

Hard to get a photo of where the exhaust doesn't clear.  The white bracket is only in the outback, not in the legacy cut.  Must be extra strength part of the factory lift i guess.

EJ206 tt sitting between the rails.  Man it is a tight fit to get it in there!  There is only a few mm clearance to the chassis rail on each side of it.  I accidently broke the 02 sensor when it snagged on something.
http://i1234.photobucket.com/albums/ff405/tmh983/IMG_3940.jpg

Finished!  Just need to get the bonnet sprayed, get a new 02 sensor, install the walbro pump i've got and take it over the pits.

BBOD aka Black Box of Death aka ridiculous box of mystery that operates the TT system

According to urban dictionary BBOD also stands for Beach Ball of Death, Big Bag of Doughnuts or Blue Box of Doom.

I believe there's also an all female rap group called BBOD

oh and welcome to Ozlib smile

very nice, impressive outlook from the garage. great to hear the tt set up working a treat, they are known for trouble but really the upgrade from 2.5na is huge and the power is more than enough for a wagon. well done mate.
