Hello from Canada... err... Sydney I mean

  Top of Page

Hi everyone.

I'm new to OzLiberty.  I originally hail from Canada (via the UK) and am currently living in Sydney, NSW.

Only been in Oz for a month and a bit.  Here with wife and 3 kids.

Thought I'd join up since I might be getting a 2006 SUBARU LIBERTY 4GEN MY07 in a few days time.

Its a sedan with the 2.5 litre engine.  Cloth seats and sunroof.  Black on black.  5-speed manual.

Keeping fingers crossed at the moment that the deal goes through.  I'll post pics of the car once I have the keys.

Wish me luck.

Best Regards.

Welcome, eh smile

I'm a big fan of Canada and I know a few people from there and they are all very nice and genuine people.

Welcome to Ozliberty, it sure sounds like a nice ride you're getting I look forward to seeing some pics of her :-)

Hopefully will see you on a cruise in the not too distant future, good luck in taking delivery of the car :-)

Ever had a Subaru before?

Thanks for the warm welcome eh?  smile  Oddly enough, most Canadians don't actually put "eh?" at the end of every single sentence smile

I find Aussies to be equally warm and genuine.  You folks seem truly to have a caring nature.  I hope to be here a long time.

This will be my first Subaru.  I've actually never been in one before... not even as a passenger.  But, I've always been amazed at how well the STi's do at AutoX.  BTW, is AutoX something that you guys do here in Oz?

I still own a car back in Canada (trying to sell it via a friend).  Its a 2004 Mazda6 Sport GT.  Very nice car.    I've been a member of Mazda6Club.com for ages... got over 1000 posts to my name.  Username is zoomzoomfan.   Not too many mods.  STS, CAI, lowering springs, upgraded shocks, tint.  The car is fully loaded with leather and Bose system.  Came with a factory body kit that really made the car look super-slick.

I also founded TorontoMazda6.com along with four friends.  Not involved in that venture too much these days.

How hard is it to find a STS for the Liberty?

No AutoX here.....
I only heard about it after I read about it on NASIOC and RS25.

Kartboy are arguably the best short shifters around (http://www.allwheelengineering.com/products.html - Tom won't ship to Australia, so get a mate from Canada or the US to send it to you), get the bushes with it and its a very nice set-up.

Hi guys.  Its final.  I have the car.  Deal went through.

I'll post some pics up soon, but in the mean-time just close your eyes and picture a stock 2006 Liberty Sedan.  Black outside... black inside.

smile

Love the way the car drives... although that shifter needs some work.  Need an STS bad... and bushings to make it less vague feeling.

Got loads of questions, but I figure I should read the manual first before making an ass of myself on this forum posting silly questions.

Mate very nice ride, dont know if you said but how much you pay for her??How many km? Im looking for a gen4 to replace my gen3. All you need to do is tint the windows and get an OZLIBERTY.com sticker.Enjoy your sweet ride.

Hi Adam.  I paid $33K for the car.

Yes, window tint needs to happen for sure.  The Libery has a lot of glass and with so much sunshine here in Australia, I'm surprised that I'm seeing so many un-tinted cars on the roads.  Heck, the dealer should've tinted the windows for me.

After the tint, I will gladly affix an OZLiberty sticker... but I think a short throw shifter should come first.  smile

Mine has nearly that many km on it, and it's only 1.5 months old big_smile.  It's used for work though.  I had tints done on mine before it was delivered - and even with the 35% tints, the aussie sun still hurts!

Wish I got mine earlier though - they were giving away the sunroof on MY07s when the MY08 came out, but they'd run out of stock so I got an MY08 (10/07 build).  Identical in the interior & trim to the 07.
