hello all! please help me

  Top of Page

hello this is my first post and the reason is i nned some questions answered so if anybody wants to help me I will reward them!!!

the thing is a own a 1999 legacy GTB manual wagon, that after racing on the high way last night... now has a really f**ked big end bearing and or some other fun stuff.

the main question i want to ask is can i use the bh5 legacy AUTO Engine WITH my normal manual ECU and are there any other problems peoplke know about this???(yes a tiny bit less power but better low end torque and half the price)

and before people recommend me to just get a short block remember that labour charges are not as cheap as OZ or the US. plus most short blocks are not a great deal cheaper than a full engine(here!) and because there is a fair amount of metal in the shaving in the oil there is a chance of problems later down the track inless i strip down the whole engine(cost again)

please help me

p.s sorry if i was ment to post this in a different section of the site

Welcome to Ozliberty.

Yes you can use the auto block with your manual ECU and box.

The engines are the same between the manual and auto.

Enjoy Ozlib.

Welcome to our forums,

I would have thought parts and labour was a lot cheaper in Japan.

We see so many parts through magazines and websites and we all just wished we could bring back a container full of spares.

Good luck with it

well Parts are quite cheap here but the labour charges are not cheap and most japanese are not the fastest workers as they are very 'textbook' about doing big tasks and they will tripple check everything (good but can get expensive)

any way it looks like i can use the Auto block.
but is the whole engine ok with the manual ECU???? as the auto has higher compression ratio (8.5man VS 9.1auto) which i like but thinking that the ecu from the manual might be a but too agressive in the timing and boost?????

It maybe possible to retune the ECU, if you can get hold of a OBDII cable and try to log onto the ECU I maybe able to help out
