heater problem

  Top of Page

hey guys. recently got my radiator replaced in my gen 2 lib last week and after a few days my heater stopped heating...it heats up to a certain point but i have it on 32 degrees and rather cool air is still coming out. Yes the car is warm when i attempt this. Not sure if its because of the radiator or if it could be something else. Would appreciate any help

thanks guys

Sounds like the thermostat could be stuck open. Does the temperature needle sit a bit lower than usual?

I did notice that actually however i just assumed since the new radiator went in it could have been more efficient in cooling the car...obviously not? how would you fix this? thank you smile

Try this to confirm it:
Sit the car in your driveway and let it idle until its up to temperature. Check the temperature of the heater. Now jump on the highway/freeway/somewhere you can do 100 safely and see if the heater is a lot cooler now. You should also notice the temp gauge drops compared to when you're not moving.
If this is the case, either your thermostat is stuck open, rusted through or they took it out and forgot to replace it when they changed your radiator.

Ideal fix would be to take it back to whoever fitted the radiator and ask them why the thermostat was working before, and isn't now.

i see. i did notice that when idling  the temp gauge does drop slightly and the heater tends to work a bit better. i also noticed last night that at one point heat was coming out from the foot compartment but not from the face compartment. It seems it wants to work whenever it feels like it...

thanks alot ill give the radiator guy a call today smile
