Head gasket blown? |

by BJ BG5A-TT on 19-08-11 05:04 PM Been having coolant issues for a while now, keep having to top up and cant bleed the air out. Can see air constantly coming out no matter how long you try to bleed it out for. I suspect a head gasket has let go. No milky oil but have heard they leak exhaust gas into the coolant when they go. Temp spikes up and down too. Can anyone confirm if this is my issue or if there is anything else it might be. Car is 1996 jdm legacy GT with 120,000 kms and some mild mods and tune. cheers |

by BJspecB on 21-08-11 02:58 PM It sounds like it could be. Does the coolant smell really bad? If so, your head gasket is probably gone. Take the radiator cap off, when the engine is cool, and make sure it is full. Then get someone to start the engine while you look into the radiator with the cap off. If coolant gets blown out the top, or if there are big bubbles coming out, the head gasket is definitely gone. |
