Hallo

  Top of Page

Hi there,

My name is Patrick. I am 32 from Perth and sorry guys I do not drive Liberty I drive 2000 Nissan Maxima. The reason I joined this forum is to find out more information about Liberty. I wanted to buy liberty but found my Maxima really cheap. I see few nice Liberties around and I didn't know they are that powerfull. I saw something the other night and probably u not gonna beleive me. Around 1 am I was going down to Fremantle and was entering the freeway. And in front of me (on traffic light) was newish red ferrari and in left line was silver sedan liberty (Had badge GT which I never saw before on those liberties. It was I think 2000 or 2001 not sure). The guy in ferrari started reving really hard, the sound of it was amazing like music. the other guy in Liberty started reving as well and the only thing I could hear was BOV. He was smiling to the guy in Ferrari.
I said this guy is crazy. RACING FERRARI????
Light went on and Liberty just jumped like crazy he was like full car lenght in front of ferrari. I couldn't beleive.

Can you guys tell me what engine is in Libeties? How many KWs etc.
Some specifications because I am really keen to get one.
After what i saw I think that is only car I want to have.

Hi Patrick.

Welcome to the forums.

First of all... Nissan Maxima, what on gods earth were you thinking.

Second of all... Liberty's range hugely in power, starting from the basic 2.2L GX and LX's in the early models (90kW at the fly or there abouts) up to the new STI GT that arrives this month... with 194kW at the fly.

More power can usually be obtained by tuning the ECU or replacing it - also replacing and improving on the exhaust system and air intake system.

Your Nissan Maxima could have more power by doing these things also, but where a car is turbo'd you will have more options for power improvement ie. bigger turbo, bigger exhaust, better ECU etc..

You should browse through the forums here there are quite a few members with "B4"s - they are a twin turbo Liberty and with the above mods can be turned in to quite the beast.

Enjoy your stay :-)

Must've been a EJ20TT powered Subaru Liberty known to Aussies as the B4 (unless it has had a EJ20T/EJ25T transplant  ), if it was from 2000-2001 vintage.

These make 190kw-206kw (Jap spec) STOCK the one you saw was probably not stock wink

If you spent that much goddamn money on a car i am sure you really wouldn't like thrashing it. I know I probably would carry around a shotgun with me to fend off any birds that even looked at the car funny.. bastards.

This was B4 shape but had GT badge. I know that replacing ECU and rest of it the car will have more power. I also know that first mod u do on the car is filter and exhaust (had 300 ZX when I was 24). This Liberty had standard exhaust that's why am asuming it's stock standard. I should be more specific. I am interested in Liberty B4. Specifications etc and approx cost to improve. I am sure with some money spend on liberty u can get really fast car. Unbeatable.

Are you sure the Ferrari driver wasn't just REALLY old and slipped on to the accelerator at the lights? I find it hard to believe that a Liberty with a stock 'zorst would beat a Ferrari flat chat off the lights.

It's possible and I beleive I know the guy he is talking about. He is acctually OzLiberty member. The car u r talking about is stock standard with jap e-tune engine import. That car is really fast stock standard. Talking about Ferraries if u know how to drive them u can go really fast of the lights if not all ull get "music sound". I lived in Italia for 5 years and few of my friends had ferraries and i drove them and thats why i am saying it is possible.

Cheers

Mate you said it has a GT badge on the back.
Given GTs have been around since 1994, that's pretty vague. How much do you expect?

I did now some research on Liberties. U r right they have been around from 1994. In 2001 Australia started importing only sedan Liberties called B4. In Japan Gen3 Liberty called Legacy in Japan started from 1999 and sedans also called B4 but wagons called GT. In this period Australia didn't import Liberty wagon turbo.
