Fair point and I see where you're coming from with the just doing a sport comment. I used to spend about 10 hours a week training, but then stopped for my HSC a few years ago and got ridiculously unfit. After another year or so I hit the gym because I was sick of being fat, and then went back to sport and loved it. Best thing was, because I was cross-training at the gym when I went back to sport I whooped ass over everyone just doing regular training. Unfortunately then I started suffering from injury-itis. I'd come home after every session with something else wrong, and haven't been able to go back since, so now I just hit the gym instead... |

by Low Tech on 22-01-08 09:45 AM I hit the gym up 4 times a week, bascially just want to put on a bit of size and drop the excess weight round the middle. Also helps with basketball as im now able to shoot from higher up then i used to and i can run faster and jump higher -shrug- |

by MY02B4 on 22-01-08 09:50 AM Sport and gym is a good combination but then again it depends on what sport and what level of sport you play. I play indoor soccer once a week and its very competitive so stamina and all that is important but having a huge build isn't necessary. If you play sports like AFL or NRL then you prob need to have a bit of muscle but again that depends on what level you play. For most people it isn't necessary but like you said, if you go to gym then you'll be much better conditioned than those who do regular training. I'm not a huge fan of weights because it does put a lot of stress on your joints and there have been heaps of discussion into the long term effects of weights training. |

I'll leave a plate of donuts at the door. That should distract you long enough for us to get away :victory: |

Not really, I used to drink protein shakes after a workout mainly because my diet sucked. Now I've fixed my diet so I don't use 'em now. Not really interested in being huge so I don't see the point in wasting money on em :glare: |

So where's the difference? Dunno if I could cop telling people that I'm taking baby formula though, no matter what the reason is 12kg in 1.5 months is pretty damned impressive though!

by MY02B4 on 22-01-08 11:14 AM 12kg in a month! Shyte. What happens if u drink those protein shakes and dont work out regularly? Does it just turn to fat? I've always wanted to put on a few more kilos just to look slightly more bigger but not obviously big. |

Spot on. I'd say putting on some more muscle bulk would be a better way of looking bigger than putting on fat though

damn man, that is a massive increase. i thought i used to be able to stack on weight but that is just insane. i used to use protein shakes but couldnt really see/feel them making a difference so these days i tend to just use a magnesium supplement, a bit of fish oil and occasionally l-carnitine |

Oh yeah i didn't mean i was going to put it on and just grow a gut haha. I need more fat to convert it into muscle. Right now i think i'm orright tone wise for my height/build but i wanted to add on another 5kg or so. If i did put on 5kg and turn it into muscle then i stop, would i lose the muscle but still keep the weight? |
