GRRR Cops Chased after me last night

  Top of Page

Last night about 00:30hrs, driving the speed limit back to Lidcombe. i saw a Highway Patrol drive past... i was seriously 150m from home.... after turning into my street and just parked my car, i see the cop drifting into my street... I WAS LIKE WTF....
the stop 2cm from my car (which was parked on da street) the jump out and start to ran at me.... (again WTF)
After realising i wasnt running away the stopped and casually walked towards me the firing 20 questions why i was here etc... blah blah blah...

The HWY patrol was EW208 which is a Eastwood unit and way out of the patrol area... Tehy checked my car as they thought it was stolen... but it came up clean...
They then told me this was a commonly stolen vehicle... then i told them its not a WRX.. its a Liberty... As usual a typical PIG remark.. no These veichles are wanted on the black market....

Blah Blah Blah......

sometimes i hate cops they have nothing better to do. seriously go chase some real criminals u PIGS

And if somebody had stolen your car?.....

Sounds like the chase would have been on - I suppose it was the turn into a side street that did it. LOL there was a RBT unit one night just beyond our street, and so we turned in and parked (outside the house), got out. Two cars up was a patrol car to nab those trying to evade the RBT guy - one got out and was making a move towards us. We just crossed the road and went into the house. Hadn't been drinking anyway, but you could see what they were thinking...

I think they just know what a subaru looks like, and once they see a bonnet scoop...

It all varies though- I have never had any trouble, and the visible difference to a Rex is half the reason I bought one!

As I have posted before Ive been next to a dumped 200sx with a highway patrol behind both of us, and he hasnt looked at me twice. Thats only once in a number of occasions that I could have been pulled over should the police have wanted to give me a going over, but they have always chosen not to.

Guess with any reasonably performance orientated car you have to take the good with the bad.

As John said, I would rather he do that, apologise when he finds out he is wrong and walk away than not do it at all. Gives me a little more comfort in case its my stolen car theyre chasing one day...

Yeah I think it's always going to be a bit of that when it comes to having a car like we've got.  Sometimes it either gets mistaken for something else (ie. WRX, mabye bcos of the boxer sound) or they believe it's stolen just bcos you happen to park it in a street and get out.

I live right next door to a busy police station and there are always at least 5 - 6 police cars parked on my street. Every time I drive by, and there happens to be police either getting out or getting in to their cars, they never give me a second glance. The only ones that occaisionally do are the highway patrol boys. Initially it's bcos they hear the boxer rumble, then they turn away after seeing it's not what they thought it was (WRX maybe).

Anyway, in my apartment block there is at least three other more noticeable cars than mine (a modified MY06 STi rex, a Mitsu Evo III with the works, and a 'Fast and Furious wannabe' Nissan Exa with bling LOL) so I'm not really worried when it comes to getting noticed by the wrong people on my street anyway.

my best dodge of the cops was when i drove past them at about 20 over the limit in a bit of road that was divided. I saw them put on the lights and 100m back up the road they turned around. By this time I was another 150m down the road and down a little side bit that came off one side of the road. I quickly turned off the car as i hear them go past me practically above me. lol. so i moved off in case they came back to look for me but they had no idea, they ended up turning down a side street where i guess they thought i went but got nothin. stopped in another side street down the road and watched em drive past lookin for me

If they were seriously sliding into your street then harassing you, i'd say complain about it. Totally unrequired.

The cops hate me, i live up the road from a school, and they RIGHT at the end of where my street joins the road that the schools on, just over a crest!!!

They directed me to pull over (although no speed gun was pointed at me) but i casualy turned up my street and BOY DID THEY RUN to their car, i drove sedately up my street and in full view of them i turned into my driveway and nailed it to 80Kph (our driveway is maybe 200M long.

There they sat untill i went to work (only 10 mins or so, just had to get changed), got to the end of my driveway and was confronted by them and some kind of ticket and told that i couldnt speed up the driveway, i polietly told them that this is private property, i can do my own speed limit, then they tried to tell me that my driveway was public property, i told them to go check it with the council. Then they tried to defect my car. it was stock at that time. They got nothin outta me, felt good to win for once.

But u just gotta love how they wont apologise.

Re: GRRR Cops Chased after me last night

well I thought I might balance it out with a good news story...

Driving home last night in sydney, coming down park st towards elizabeth st in peak hour traffic, spotted an opening to get through a notoriously bad set of lights with a free lane...dropped it back a gear and planted the right hoof and hooked through.

Right past the Law. For all intents and purposes I should have been done and dusted, but Mr Policeman took one look at me, turned away and focussed his attention on something else. Now something else had not done anything wrong so far as I could see, whereas I had far more cause to be pulled over, but guess who he pulled over? Thats right, something else!!

Pity something else was a pink (yes pink) 300zx with bigger wings than a jumbo jet. Couldnt help but feel sorry for him, but nonetheless, I had to be a little cheeky and whip out the digi cam. So I pulled in behind and happy snapped another reason why i love the B4...

Man that RSM is cool Joel!

B4 - usually the Q-Ship thats what I like about it!

Last week my mate was driving home from work and the cops followed him home and frisked him! infront of his house and his parents, now thats bad. Turns out that the car was owned by a shady character before and they suggested that he change his number plates or the same could happen again, they did not tell him the reason why this car was (well the number plate) was wanted :S

Cheers Dave- its a fun little thing to have inside the car actually.

I actually dont mind driving along the highway sometimes and testing the 80kmh - 120kmh times or stuff like that. Keeps long boring drives interesting (as does the ensuing head slap from the girlfriend). Lets you put in numbers the difference ambient temps make on the cars performance too (to a certain degree of course) which is handy. Night and day difference in hot and cold temps!

As we were chatting about on sunday too, also very useful for highway driving with the B4's lack of cruise control. At night the flashing warning is obscenely bright, and the near blindness that comes from exceeding the set limit is almost as painful as the double demerits...not quite but its damn effective anyway.

Probably a good idea if you have one and ever get pulled over to reset the max readings on the Rev and Speed readouts. Would be hard to argue against breaking the limit when right next to your left hand is a digital readout of the speed you just got clocked at!

All the records were deleted last night actually while waiting to pick the better looking half up from work. It only stores 6 in a row, and any subsequent ones dont save unless you delete one or all of the original 6.

So its a fresh pad at the moment and I think I have a good technique down, so ill give it a run on the way home tonight or on the drive down to canberra on the weekend and report some 'real world' figures when I come back.

I actually bought it off a fella from QLD with an Sti. It still had the recorded times in it and that thing was hell fast! I cant get close to his standing start 0 - 100kmh times (try sub 5 seconds!), but I have managed to better a few of the rolling acceleration times.

Yea the RSM is good but to me its a big bulky.. i opted for a Pivot speed meter.. so small, but only does speed eg 1/4 miles etc... 0=100m... the Apexi is much more advanced....

Nice boost guage as well WMD. similar to my one....

Yeah I spotted your HKS unit when I looked at the photos you posted a few days back- was thinking that myself!

You have the white faced one yes?

Good unit- I had an AVO gauge in there previously and it was, in a word, shite. The thing read 0.2 bar out of whack! So it was telling me the secondary was running up on 20psi...not helpful.

HKS unit is much more accurate and looks a treat too.

You have yours on the steering column right? What did you use to keep it there? I noticed some sort of pod/surround you had but where did you find that and how did you mount it? i previously had the AVO gauge on the steering column but couldnt (without drilling into the column- I usually avoid drilling at all costs) get the thing to stop rattling.

and yeah- admittedly it is bling. I only really wanted it for the speed warning thing, but the bling factor must have swayed me :king:

Yea its the White faced one smile i put double sided tape on the column i hate drilling holes.... it is actually very secure doesnt move at all... i had to bend the bracket slightly to mount it perfetly.....

The guage holder came with the unit.. $200 total

When your on full boost what does the guage read? mine read 0.9 BAR  for stock that is... i dont have a EBC so havent turned up the boost yet.

Re: GRRR Cops Chased after me last night

boost varies between gears, but first is about 0.8 on secondary, second is about 0.9, third just over 1.0 and fourth/fifth are about 1.1

Primary turbo is always lower- max 1.0 bar in fourth and fifth, and roughly goes down 0.1bar with each gear down.

I looked into an EBC, but thought better of it cause I really dont want to play with the good job the retune did of setting safe, but still effective boost levels. Knowing me I would wind the thing up too far one day, squeeze out just a little bit of performance and I would get about 100m before the primary turbo decided to chew its blades and spit them through the intake...

Re: GRRR Cops Chased after me last night

I have a small cop story. My mate who is 18 with his P's owns a Nissan Skyline R32T. He was parked in a carpark out side SuperCheap Auto waiting for his other mate to get off work. He noticed that the cops were parked over the road near a busy round about outside Macas watching him. When his mate came out of work and he picked him up and they started to head off. When they did so did the cops. The cops court up to them and started to drive right up his cars ars just to piss him off so he could speed up or do something illeagal so they can simply pull him over. This was in Eltham VIC where they are really starting to crack down on P's with sweet looking cars. However he has had another experiance with a nice cop who has pulled him over for a random breath test at a booze buss stop and he asked him "how the car was and if he liked it" and stuff in a friendly manner.

TJ

P.S a bit of an old topic but its all good

i know this thread is from a while ago but i got pulled over a few weeks ago by a pajero cop, i was catching up to my cousin after dinner going through some round abouts and took one to the left pretty fast and the fiancee saw the cops and it was too late, they followed me for over 3km through a housing estate and pulled me over 10metres from my sisters house, they both got out and said you have been pulled over for a random breath test(random my a$$) had only had one beer so was let go.

I have to admit i was lucky over the weekend as i was turning into my street and had to give it a little hit probably doing 120 when i see a unmarked 380 pulling out of side street slow down to speed limit then get pulled over for random breath test as i cant get done for speeding without being on camera big_smile
