Gidday

  Top of Page

Hi all, I'm new to this forum, I usually lurk on the RSLC. Currently driving a RS Liberty wagon but looking at getting into something with a sunroof and leather. Possibly a  Gen 4 GT-B wagon, GT wagon or 3.0R-B wagon.
Stuggling to decide which is the better car, any input would be apreciated.
Cheers, Doug.

g'day from WA wink

Personally, the gen4 wagon doesn't do it for me, but if it rocks your world, go for it! As for what type, I guess its going to depend on your wants and needs and what each car can offer you.

Oh, which RS are you riding in ? (im the blue(ish) N/A Gen3 that occasionally turns up to mixed events 'ere in Perth)

Yeah, obviously the tuned by STi wagon would be the pick of all of them, but there's only one for sale at the moment and it's auto. I plan on keeping the RS Liberty wagon as I need something that I can throw tools in the back, tow a trailer to the tip etc.
Richo, Mine is the Ruby wagon that was on the Toodyay cruise you came on. Possibly the only Ruby RS wagon in Perth?
The desision on what to buy isn't easy as I belive they're both great cars. The 3.0 is more readily available on the used market and all manuals are 6 speed. It's $400 less to insure and I reckon it was better to drive despite having (on paper anyway) less torque and slightly less power.
The GT-B appears to have only been made from 2006 onwards? if not they're certainly rare in the earlier year model. There's two manuals for sale at the moment ( none in W.A.) A Pearl white and a Grey. Ideally I'd prefer a OBP or Regal Blue.
I drove a new GT-B and was disapointed with the performance, throttle delay was annoying and the gear ratios were too wide. Engine output also felt below 180KW even on sharp mode. My RS Liberty had more go in it I reckon.
GT wagons are much more abundant on the used market but no Bilsteins, 5 speed only and 17" rims. They also have the 2.0 litre engine not the 2.5. I don't know if this is an advantage or disadvantage? Anyone care to discuss?
An option would be a 2005 GT and then fit a close ratio 6 speed and have some money left over for tuning, wheels and Brembos.
If anyone in Perth has a 3.0 R-B manual or a GT or GT-B and would like to show me how good they are (you drive it) I'd appreciate a real world road test without a salesman getting in the way.
Cheers, Doug.
