by XXB4XX on 14-08-06 03:43 PM or you can buy one of those straps that hangs from the back of your car and rubs along the ground as you drive along

by XXB4XX on 14-08-06 04:08 PM so do i, but they work, they earth the car directly and realease any static, bolt it on somewhere mid car where you cant see it, |

by d_generate on 14-08-06 05:47 PM It's the nylon seat covers cos they build up static, I hate it too, but if you earth yourself on the door whilst stepping out this will usually stop it, when I was younger I worked at DJ's & we used to scuff around on the nylon carpet & build up a heap of volts then tap the customer on the shoulder, you'd get a half inch spark & scare the crap out of them, or better still hand them a metal pen:ohmy: |

by XXB4XX on 14-08-06 09:57 PM Its probably something I would be worrying about, cause you might not discharge the static in you till you put the fuel nozzle in the tank when your filling up.. then you will be spewing about not having that ugly strap on the back when you have no car to put it on to.:suicide2: |

by christuffa on 15-08-06 07:34 AM I think mythbusters proved that and mobile phones to be BUSTED! Static will not cause the car to blow up. Had to be alot more than that. From memory, they had a vanderbelt (?) to create static and it still wouldnt do it.

by camo31 on 15-08-06 09:49 AM Easy solve as you get out of the car hold something metal or slide your leg on the side of ur car as you get out so that you and the car are at the same potential.

by eVolUTIoN_182 on 15-08-06 01:06 PM I agree with d_generate it could also be the cloths you wear from what they are made of. My folks allways get shocked from there Pathfinder and I never do on it. We think the material of our cloths as they are different (generally) so some create static easier. But its probably best to go witht hat genuine part it doesnt look that bad compared to the bit of rubber tht hangs off the back of the car they look like s**t. I had one and took it off overall I have been zapped once out of the many many times I have got in and out of it. |

by steverc on 15-08-06 04:05 PM Now I realise that it is because I have nylon seat covers.

by johnnydad on 20-08-06 11:17 AM What works is to touch the door sill or other metal part of the car with your hand before you get out and keep it firmly attached until after all of you is out. Then let go. No static. The RX was terrible for this - its that cheap chintzy fabric they use - but I never got zapped with that technique. |
