General Discussion....?

  Top of Page

Why doesn't this site have a general discussion section? Yes i searched. Yes i checked the sticky. Yes the sticky mentions it. No no-one replies to the couple mentions.

I just get so lost when i want to discuss general things. It's tearing me up inside. :umnik:

Hi,

If a specific sub forum, site discussion, or off topic doesn't cover your topic of choice - what the hell are you trying to discuss?

Cheers,
Nik

i agree.

he means not gen specific. as in GENERAL subaru talk! new models etc etc... IN GENERAL, everything is very specific on this forum bar off topic you need a general discussion area (like RSLC) so much good info would be easier to find if this were in place!!

Hmm true.
I think it would negate the need for the "What exhaust/intake/wheel offset, in every thread.

Anything that doesn't fit under the topics under general and isn't a technical question or generation specific liberty question or topic. Pretty simple protest...

Could be anything from a new model. To new wheels on my car. To a good importer/vendor/mechanic. Could be to even discuss other cars or conversions. Just somewhere for everyone to discuss something other than the funniest new shid on youtube.

I don't think he means general subaru talk, or do you?

General discussion would be off topic

Hi,

Put a proper title on your thread and put it in off topic. Other cars and other car conversions are off topic in a Subaru forum.

New wheels on your car? What car mate?

Let's not get petty. The site is quite small, let's walk before we run.

Cheers,
Nik

Hi,

I think this thread has a proper title if that's what you're referring to? If you're interested you can peruse my vehicle here. I think that title is also suitable, no?

Most of what i mentioned would be subaru specific. Off topic would be the place for other models, sorry. I think i (am i alone here?) view off topic as a place to discuss funny shid, fav. beers, look at this youtube link, favourite movies yadada and not so much about cars.

Whereas General discussion would be more Subaru relevant general topics that don't belong in off topic. Would be a good way to let a broader audience discuss something so we don't all have to sort through every sub-forum for a new topic. Also prevents each generation or technical specific subforum being cluttered with topics that aren't 100% relevant. Adds a touch of credibility to them perhaps?

Is there a specific reason why there isn't a general discussion sub-forum?

I don't think i'm getting petty champ. Trying to suggest something which i think would help better the site is far from petty. No need to jump on board the moderating high horse cowboy.

Hi,

Seriously, why so defensive. My point is we don't need a general section if people employ a correct and direct thread title - why this is considered a shot at you I've no idea?

So, your comment that you need a general discussion for when you put new wheels on? I am confused. You drive a Gen1. New wheels on gen1? Gen1 subsection perhaps?

As for a specific reason, yes, we don't warrant one with the thread and post traffic per day on OzLiberty.

The suggestion is great, and when needed, may well be implemented.

Thanking you for your contributions!

Cheers,
Nik

Defensive? Thought i had a suggestion with merit, just backing it up. Why so arrogantly dismissive? Thought you were having a shot at me when you said "Your", my bad.

Why put a thread about me getting new wheels in a gen 1 topic? Wheels aren't generation specific and may be of interest to owners of other generations who only look in the generation of vehicle they own.  Besides the point anyhow, it was merely an example. What about the others i suggested?

Perhaps creating a better forum for general discussion will increase the number of posts and involved members. I'm a member of other forums and feel they benefit from a general discussion section. I also feel that i'd visit here if there was a general discussion section. This site feels like it's lacking something. Chicken or egg?

Glad you appreciated my contributions.

Pauly, I realise that, but you yourself seemed to receive the idea positively.

Sold the Subaru, replaced it with a Honda.. but all I know is Subaru's! (and Holden V8's of course):secret:

Re: General Discussion....?

Nick, I can see where you're coming from there, but for wheels and things that go on the outside of the car... maybe the Exterior subform would be the go?
And if you want to discuss general car stuff, or general subaru stuff, I guess that would come under off-topic talk, as its not really on the topic of being a Liberty.

Problem is the forums are still quite small, and having 10,000 subforums just makes information even harder to find at the end of the day!
