Gday.

  Top of Page

Just saying hi.

Have been a member for a couple of weeks now.

I drive an MY02 B4. Lowered, strut brace BOV.
Soon to have (next week), CAI, Bigger TMIC, Full exhaust, ECUTEK 2, Bigger Fuel Pump,
Heavy duty clutch, Anti-lift kit, Rear sway bar, Slotted and dimpled front rotors (RDA).

Anyway, you'll no doubt see my opinions all over the site shortly.

Thanks for the welcome.

Yeah, I'm not very original with my name I know.

Plenty of open roads out here. Even some that don't have too many kangaroos!

Good fun doing top speed tests. They look after the truck routes pretty well here.

Looking forward to seeing what the B4 can do without the limiter. Hits 220 way too easily then stops! I'll let you know how it goes.

RaceTorque engineering in Wangara are doing the work (ECU goes to MRT but).

I'll let you know how the RDA's go. RaceTorque sell and fit both the DBA's and RDA's and I asked for DBA drilled and slotted (my mate has em on his WRX) but they recommended the RDA's.

Here's hoping! Im getting EBC pads too (i think green).

Either way, if they're no good I'll just go back and swap em out. The guys at RaceTorque seem really cool and look like they do a lot of Subie's (heaps in their workshop when I dropped mine off). I'm sure if I can demonstrate a problem with them they'll do the righty.

Do you have the RDA slotted and dimple ones or just the slotted??

I have the slotted and dimpled and I find em to be  noisy adn shudder like anything under heavy breaking

near pointless getting slotted rotors (EDIT: AND CROSS DRILLED should of made this clearer!) for street driving unless you are on brakes 24/7. slots are designed for cooling as in when your racing on a track on the brakes constantly, it reduces the surface area of where the pad grabs the rotor.

I would disagree with that Alexxx.

Slotted rotors on the street are awesome.
Reduce breaking distances, and when you go for a run, you will have better brakes.

Nothing wrong with that!

I have had em checked and there aint nothin i can do about it
Check this sight I have the Grooved Sports Rotors

http://www.rdabrakes.com.au/prodinfo.htm

They have curved slots and dimples which cause the shuddering and noise aint nothing I can do about it!!!
The slotted ones with the straight slots are ok tho...............

Yeah sorry bout that, I only have slotted, not cross drilled and slotted, im not a fan of cross drilled, they aren't all their cracked up to be..smile

for me though its not so much the discs but the pads that you use, I got the discs as a cosmetic thing really.

Bugger.

I guess I'll see in a week or so.

Did yours do it straight away (roob4) or did the problem develop over time?
I might be able to get them changed if it's a problem the mechanic can feel from new.

The shudder isn't the ABS coming on or anything is it? Maybe the pads are biting too hard?

It will be interesting to see how you go hypothetically, because it is illegal to do the speeds yo are talking about:secret:

From memory, hypothetically speaking of course, 220 comes up around 6500-6600. Jeez thats around 280 at 7500, hypothetically speaking of course.

Yeah.

Hypothetically. Yeah.

Spose I'd better check the speed rating of my tires first. Might be worth investing in a new set (hypothetically).smile

The trees aren't real forgiving, and I don't think I'd have much chance if I blew out at 280.

Have to see if it can overcome the wind resistance though. (Hypothetically)
