Friggin brant

  Top of Page

just got back from overseas, only to find out my battery went flat so i went and bought a new one, swapped it out. Brant went nuts not letting me start the damn think. One phone call to Kosti , he was over my place in a giffy ( very classy believe it or not he turned up in a limo lol).

Kosti + 10 minutes = No more brant dramas.

The car now starts (in valet mode) at least i can take it to my dealership on tuesday.

Do you guys know if they are open tomorrow?

Big thanks to Kosti!!

There are somethings SUBARU can't do for those things there is KOSTI.

Cheers

lol - i feel your pain...I went through this EXACT issue earlier this week, got back from overseas and flat battery. I charged the battery and it went straight into valet mode which let me get to subaru at least.

The guy at subaru hated Brant more than I already did.

there is a sequence you can use on the brant car alarm to get the alarm back in working order. I had this problem last month when my battery shat itself....ran the sequence subaru gave me and everything is fine now.
Let me know if you would like it...

I thought the sequence was different for each model?

Or maybe this is why the guy at Subaru was telling me that the code i was entering was going to give him a trouble code, and then it fixed everything!

Doesn't the alarm upgrade from Brant give the alarm an internal battery or something? Making it not go haywire when the battery is removed?

It's not offered by Subaru, but Brant themselves.
Was mentioned on here a while ago but can't find it right now.

Is the code not Vin# specific?

If not, I'd love a copy of this too. Save me 2 days worth of phone calls to Subaru.

Probably don't post it up unless you like the idea of everyone being able to reset your alarm. smile

PM sent.

I think the code you're talking about is the one that puts it into valet mode so you can take it back to subaru for a reset? Any how i'm interested because i haven't d/c my battery since I had it reset and it would be good to know i can if required without having to tow it back again.

Re: Friggin brant

its not really a reset of your code digits

its more to reset your alarm so your car starts again and alarm functions normally...you do need to input your current code during this process

but if you just want me to email it to you thats fine as well  smile

Hehehehe - Brants are a pice of cake - Subaru are just screwing people for extra cash!

It was a 10 seater limo, :new_russi I travel in style

I think I have the same PDF

send it to me via email and I'll confirm -

Oh BTW not a good idea to release it on the forum, as there are people who do steal cars and I must say the Brant is faily easy to get into if you have the tricks :vampire:

I just want to know how to disconnect my battery without the brant crapping itself. If i need the mastercode then i'm probably without luck. I can take a photo of my car with todays newspaper to prove I am who i am tongue but yeah better not disclose this stuff online.

If your quick enough changing the battery you'll be ok. You get a couple of minutes. Took me too long because I got a too big battery and had to relocate my siren.

If your real worried, just keep a 12VDC power source connected to the wires as you remove them from the battery (i.e, battery charger).

Funny enough thats what i had to do when i changed my battery but i cant do the same this time around because i'm looking at redoing my terminals so it has to be completely disconnected.

Just keep 12v to the alternator via another source /spare battery and you'll be fine when swapping it out.

Thats a solution but its not really the solution when you want to have it completely disconnect say when you're doing the stereo not to mention i dont know what the alternator looks like

Its like TOTALLY ZOMG ZOMG! Why are you online so early? Anyway you missed the point. Like I said, sometimes you just want to have the car completely disconnected. Its not like I go changing the battery everyday.

Maybe have a look at the workshop manual.

If there is a wiring diagram, it might show where you can put 12V straight onto the Brant. Just have to be careful of backfeeds coming back and shorting out.

I think you can remove power to the car for about 20 min before you run into any problems, but then again, it's not that hard to get it going again. When it happens to you I'll come down and start it up :victory:

I've had it d/c for longer but i think it was by chance that i got it working again. There should be a procedure that requires you to enter your own PIN before you can d/c the battery. I know there probably is a procedure like that but yeah, I think Melbourne might be a bit far for you Kosti!
