Fog Lights not working?

  Top of Page

Hi guys,

First of all, just like to say hi to everyone, im only new as i purchased a 2002 RX liberty on saturday (been looking around for a while) and im in love with it...cant stop driving it, such a great car...
having said that, i cant figure out the foglights...i know ive got parking lights, headlights, high beam lights and fog lights, i can get all to work but not the foglights...is there something i should be doing to get them to work?  there is a button on the side of the control panel, which via what the manual says is the fog light switch, but i still cant get them to work...my first instinct would be that the bulbs have blown in both, but before i go and look into getting them replaced was just wondering if there is some trick to getting them to work?

cheers guys, great forum you have going on here btw...

They only go on if the Parkers or headlights are on with the switch in the on position, they will not go on by themselves.

Change one globe and see if it works, if it doesn't then there is obviously something else wrong.

If it's Broke, Use a Cable Tie.

When I purchased my car, it just so happened that there weren't even any globes in the fog lights. Easy fix really.

Check you have globes in there first.

ok ill have a check...been looking at other threads to see what ive got to do to get to the fog light, is it really as hard as having to take the bumber off?  or can i just ease out the fog light housing and get into the bulb that way?

You should be able to get straight onto the back of the housing, not real easy on a Gen 3.

b-don21 welcome to OZlib!!
Does the green light in the switch come on when the ignition and park/headlights are on?
Like the others suggest, it may just be the globes.

Like the others, still thinking globes. You could try turning the fog switch on and off and listen for a relay clicking under the bonnet. If the relay clicks, its looking like globes.
I am assuming that they have a relay and its under the bonnet!!!

easiest way to get to the fog lights is to remove the headlight assembly, itsonly 3 screws each light and 3 plugs, then you have easy access to the foggies

That seems like an overly difficult way to get to the foggies on a gen3??

well like everyone said globes, well it could be just as simple as the fuse for the foggies....also the relay is a good bet too.

Yeah thats not bad advice to take the headlight out and they are there, but too many screws and plugs its easier to take the 2 clips of the mud guard and the back cover is right there.
