This was mentioned in a "for sale" thread. I made a similar post as I am now, but some moderator as deleted it. So I started this thread. I call BS to the above statement made by FOZ13. I've searched the getrag site, and google, and I have found absolutely no references between the two. All I've managed to find is a sub 10 sec drag WRX running a getrag gearbox in RWD. Absolutely not a factory fitment. FOZ13 - reveal your sources, because until you prove otherwise, I don't believe you. |

I googled and yielded much the same result... Saw the same youtube with some retarded comments, but nothing on getrag being the factory STi box... |

I read his quote and it doesnt state that Getrag is the factory sti box, it says that on their high performance cars they use it (doesnt suggest it's factory still). |

High performance is fairly ambiguous. Compared to a factory WRX, an STi is high performance. But then high performance could also mean the limited ed. like the S401, or could mean the rally cars like the Prodrives, which aren't Subaru cars anyway. |

by XoN on 11-07-07 10:47 AM I notice, in particular, the lack of Subaru, STi or even Prodrive from the References/Customers page of the Getrag website... |

by fatcat67 on 11-07-07 10:50 AM Is it maybe the Evo's that have the Getrag boxes because you don't hear of hardly any Evo's breaking gearboxes. |

Maybe we'll stick to discussing Getrags, and not my tact. |

Well you did sound like you were whinging in the first post about your post being deleted, you may have gotten an answer in the first place if you had been a bit more polite. Anyway...got this back in an email from them which funny enough is on their website as well. Our customer base includes: Audi BMW Buick Cadillac Caterpillar Changan Chevrolet Chrysler Cummins Daewoo Dodge Ferrari Fiat Ford GM Harley Davidson Holden Jaguar Kia Lancia LandRover Mazda Mercedes Benz MINI Mitsubishi Nissan Opel Otosan Pontiac Porsche Renault Saturn Skoda smart Suzuki Toyota Vauxhall Volvo VW NOW it doesnt say subaru (der) However im led to believe that currently an affiliate of Toyota Motor Corporation, with it owning 8.7% of FHI (fuji Heavy Ind). They acquired that stake from General Motors, who bought 20% of FHI in 1999 to have an extended presence in international markets, and collaborate technologically with FHI. GM themselves had only purchased their 20% stake from Nissan in 1999, who had owned it since 1968, due to a restructuring of the Japanese auto market back then. All of the companies mentioned do get products from Getrag, HOWEVER, nothing set in concrete about using Getrag boxes. |
