It didn't take long for Japan's journalists to get the new STI and EVO X side by side, and the results are now officially in. Tsukuba circuit regulars Kazuo Shimizu and Manabu Kawaguchi spent an afternoon thrashing around the notoriously twisty short circuit just north of Tokyo and here (drum roll please) are the best times they could ring out of the AWD rivals:

I like the evo though..  Something cool about the nosecone...  even the NA lancers look hot in the new shape..  saw the evo at AIMS and really liked it..

I dont mind the front of the new Lancers either. The arse end still looks like a big poof has gotten to it, but on a whole it looks better than the WRX.

Tsukuba circuit was my favourite on GT4. I'll have to save for a PS3, wait for GT5 to come out, and beat that time.

The new Subaru Impreza WRX STI is pitted against the Mitsubishi Evolution X with the five-speed gearbox.
But to make it even more interesting, they included the SST-equipped version of the Evo X, an Evo IX MR GSR and the last generation WRX STI.
