e-tag didnt work

  Top of Page

Salutations,

I have a question which may seem noob but as I live on the Central Coast and don't have to worry about paying to drive along a stretch of road just because the government thought it would be funny to privatise bitumen here and there, I am perplexed as to the procedure of e-tag evasion.

I crossed the coat hanger last night as I have done a gazillion times before only thing different is that this time I snaffled the female units e-tag. I went through the tollgate and the thing didn't beep... there was a flash and I though oh .. well isn't that just the cats pajamas right there.

So now I am told that you have "a week", "48 hours", "till they send you an invoice", "the end of eternity","till death do us part" to pay this evasion by every man, his dog and their colorful experience on the matter and now I have no idea who to believe and what to do.

roam.com.au is about as useless as a maccas drink tray so I am asking the gods for help. I would sacrifice a virgin as an offering yet The Central Coast is basically Blacktown by the sea.

Help me forum gods as I need to know how long I have to pay this ridiculous revenue raising p!ss take of a fine.

ring the number for the toll people. 13 TOLL?

just explain that you had a eTAG on board but it did not beep for unknown reasons, and they should just take the normal fare off the Tag.

on the form they send out theres a section to fillin if you have an etag that hasnt worked, if thats the case then you only have to pay for the etag fare youd be chaged anyway.

someone in adelaide who attended last years wollongong event didnt pay theirs and after the reminder came out, nothing has happened in 9 months of not paying, so i doubt they really care to follow it up.

Roam tags have a loud beep, RTA tags have a soft shrill noise which you basically can't hear unless the radio's off.

Strange.

Not that I don't believe you John, just that I've been in two different vehicles with the Roam Tag, and neither of them beeped. When I quizzed the owners about it, they said they never received fines or anything about it in regards to it not working...they just didn't beep.

Regashi when a roam tag beeps, you definitely know about it. Maybe the owners have an older version before roam decided all drivers are deaf as f**k.

Buy a S13 Silvia, then you never get done hahah
My mate drives through the city (melb) every weekend and has never been blipped (S13 plates sit under the bumper and as such the angle at which the photo's are taken cant get the plate)
2 years and still no fine or word from city link.
for me i go through and pay by B-Pay and they get the payment, forward onto Vic police and fine me $100 for not paying it and tell me to write friggen letters and provide proof i paid it at which time they send me more fines for not paying the fine on time.
