Hi,

It is good safe practice to have headlights on during they day, foglights and driving lights are pretty much a no no. Illegal in WA, but I'm not too sure about other parts of Australia, due to the globe itself not being directional and therefore can right get you in the eyes.

Cheers,
Nik

They should only ever be on when the headlight are also on. If headlights are off then very toolish:new_russi

Toolish during the day unless its pouring rain, really overcast, etc, but with the addition of the headlights also.

Mine are left on and they illuminate with the low beams on.

Foggies and only parkers on during the day is a wank.

I usually put my lights on on freeways any time of day and when driving away from the sun. It's much easer to spot a car with headlights on when the sun is shining in your mirror.

IMO you would look like a wanker if you had them on without normal lights, especially during the day.

Normal lights and fog/driving lights at night are a good way of getting light on the road, but also gets in the eyes of oncoming traffic.

On with high beams is perfectly acceptable lol

They don't match my HID's anymore, so I never drive with them on.

Depending on my mood, and if I am at work, I turn my high beams on and give them a dose of what they are giving me lol

If I am working it all comes down to the attitude and you turn them off, its all good.

But during the day, WTF, I would laugh and point.

sick "splash lights bro chappel street chasers OMG"

its purely for the wank factor, . when its just becoming on dusk i turn on my lights to hep other motorists see my car.

when its raining or foggy.. then fog lights are acceptable

Hi,

Are you actually allowed to drive with fog lights on over east?

Headlights should stay on 24/7 - headlights save lives.

Cheers,
Nik

There's a fine for driving around with fog/driving lights on any time other than in adverse conditions. Problem is "adverse conditions" is a bit vague really so I guess its up to whether the cop that pulls you over thinks they're adverse or not... :triniti:

the law states australia wide...
2 lights and 2 parkers thats it
fog light used in adverse weather only
driving light are to be on with high beam only....

the fine for driving with fog lights or driving light is $77 dollars

but adverse means raining or fog or really over cast before a storm....other wise they need to be on.....
i like my lights and fogies on and i voted for it on but i personally dont have em on unless i cruise like we did on the cruise or its a dark street other wise its just my parkers and lights......buy sometimes i like to have em on as a wank factor

Hi,

Got a link to the law mate?

Australia wide the fine is exactly the same? Must be an unusual one, no?

Nik

Hi,

Cheers mate, interesting to note that it is mandatory in Canada to have daytime running lights switched on.

I drive around with my headlights on all the time. I have a dark green lib which could be hard to see if driving in a shadow etc.
There was a saying about encouraging people to use headlights more.
Be Seen, Be Safe.

I use the rule, if i am wearing glasses i will not have  them on.. but like some people have said if its quite a dull day, ie overcast, raining, etc. then i'll drive with them on..

Re: Driving Lights

  Top of Page

as far as i have seen, my 'driving lights' are pointed to the ground and to the sides, to give me more vision both ways.. but they dont seem to direct up into someones eyes..

so i leave my parkers on and driving lights on during the day sometimes, just because.. i do? lol.. usually on rainy days or overcast.. apparently grey, silver, and green are the most popular cars involved in minor accidents because of their colour blending or something? especially on cloudy/overcast.. so having my parkers and driving lights on during the day (therefore also my back lights) might only just lower the risk, but maybe enough to help me avoid anything!

if you cant take having lights shine in your eyes once every now and then, you shouldnt be on the road.. lol.. it's not like they are super bright during the day and not like they are infact adjusted straight in your face..

but big foggies, man they are blinding no matter what time of day LOL..
