driving in the snow

Hi, having an AWD car do we still have to carry snow chains for extreme conditions? or is it up to the driver?

Yes in vic http://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au/Home/Roa … Chains.htm

Maybe not in NSW depending on the definition of 4WD vs AWD http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/roadsafety/snowdriving.html

But I'd be taking them either way:Dance:

in nsw you "technically" have to carry them as subys are classed awd not 4wd,
but so long as the roads have been ploughed you shouldnt need them if you have good tyres, it was extremely slippery but there wasnt any issues. even driving through 4 inches of snow i was ploughing the very top with the front bar, wouldnt want to take off uphill though.
