Done by the Police

  Top of Page

Well had a rude run in with the Qld Police today guys. Had a car come flying up my rear this morning. Black SS ute, 6lt V8. Unmarked police car.Looked at speedo and was sitting on 90 in a 60 zone.:blush2:

So I did the right thing and pulled over. Hopped out of the car. Was greeted by a short stubby guy and a tall lanky guy. Was asked how if I knew why I was pulled over. I reluctantly said for speeding. When asked how fast I think I was travelling I said 90. Was devoed to find that they had clocked me at only 77 however they were wearing voice recorders round their necks so that kinda stuffed that up for me. The short stubby guy was ok about it as he could see I knew I stuffed up. However the lanky guy, Col. Klink, then preceded to go over the car.

He asked to see the motor. I had a little chuckle to myself as I know its NA. He looked all over the motor trying to find a turbo and after 10 mins of looking and a further 5 mins of telling him it isn't turboed, decided to start defecting me.

First was the bonnet. He asked who did my bonnet so I told him. I was then told he should have known better not to cut the bracing and gave me a defect for that.

Then was done for the wheels. He ran his video camera over the car and came back asking if I knew my wheels were illegal. I said yes. He showed me his little tyre placard and showed me where I'm spose to be and what I was at. When asked if I knew why they were illegal, I replied that it was more than the two inches. He came back with thats not neccesarily the case. My maximum rolling diameter is to be no more than 660mm. Mine is 663mm. I was WTF:comando:. Then the load rating is suppose to be 86 or 87. mine are 85.

So I now have 30 days to get the bonnet fixed up. Not concerned about the wheels as I still have the factory mags. Just waiting to hear back from my mate that did the bonnet to see if there is anyway I can brace it without stuffing up the paint.

For all you guys living on the Gold Coast, or anywhere for that matter, this is what I was pulled over by today.

And here is me with the nice pieces of paper.

at least you didnt lose your license.
what the got you for sounds fair enough, sh1tty as it is.

as for the bonnet 10mm flat bar FTW (Hornet scoop Experience!).  and auto bonding glue. thats how the original brace was fitted.

Also you can get them wheels engineered, my mate just got his 19's done for his VL, cost him $250.

sucks to get the fines tho...

As much as I'm pi$$ed at the fine, I'll wear it on the chin. Yes, its because of my stupidity. but the bonnet? He asked me how WRXs get away with it. Said farked if i know but i guess i'll have to have a look:angry2:

Suprauc wrote:

yeah, i read it. but if it was Syd coppa's you would be in jail right now
NSW coppa's would argue that the scoop gives you more HP, and needs to be engineered
Thats what he thought. He said that big black thing just before the throttle was a water to air cooler so it must be turboed. WTF?!

WRX's get away with it because there bonet is made to have the scoop in it.

i'd say the brace goes around it.
maybe an RS bonnet would work better? IMO they look better.

The fuzz is gettin pretty good at blending in though, i've seen a few stock looking S pack commodores, boring old falcon's and the like.

If your quick, you can pick up the black box with the blue/red lights sitting on the back parcel shelf...

First time i've seen a ute though, hard luck mate!

im getting used to eye balling every como or falcon comming towards me. it helps that utes look like sedans when comming head on.

i think its good that they blend it, maybe they'll notice more d1ckheads and hopeless drivers.

Im the same. Being in a smallish city, its easy to know all the undercover cars in town. Recently got a Green XR6 turbo around.
Also got a Mitsu 380 and a Forrester!

that sucks mate.. just on the side note of undercover cop cars.. over here we have a few pretty clever coppers.. the usual ss and s commodores, usually pretty easy to spot as they have all been converted to LPG and have stickers saying so.. but the sneaky ones are the holden utes with ladders etc in the back to look like a tradie vehicle.. the funniest tho would have to be little daihatsu charades decked out in chromes, vinyls tints etc to blend in with the "boy racers"

Thats bad luck, i remember reading someone else about a black police ss ute with stickers on the Gold Coast.

Last cruise your bonnet didn't look to suspect to me, a gen 2 jap model rs or gt-b hood might be the go.
Although might be a little hard to get in green though, could respray it i suppose.

Hopefully they didn't fine you to much today sad
