So basically I have added a handling kit of sorts to the old girl, white line rear sway (& links), front lower sti arm, Cusco front and rear struts
So I wanted to start in on the power upgrade
In anticipation of this I want to install the AVO top mounted intercooler I have purchased of a friend of mine as he has sold his lib GT and got himself the new wrx sti. Great car but not my cup of tea.

Anyway, I’m only planning a stage 1.5 kit, so CAI, TMIC & ECU upgrade. I'll probably throw a catch can at it as well as a trans cooler as I plan on getting a tow kit as she is a daily drive and I’d love to be able to take the camper trailer out when we go on holidays instead of taking the tent. Or the 4WD. It's a bit over kill when we're not heading off road. Plus the GT is soooooo much nicer to drive than the paj.

Ok here it is installed it is fairly easy to install but just make sure you don’t loose any screws or push pins. they are a munting funt to find if you lose one. Probably best to wear gloves as well as there were a few sharpie bits.

When you get to install the turbo pipe back onto the intercooler. She can be tricky but giver a bit and she'll go back on there. Make sure it's done up nice and tight to prevent leaks. AVO provided a gasket for that but we don't need it in OZ because we have that pipe with a small seal on it. Make sure that bad boy is still on there. Again leaks.

OK that is the BOV side again fairly straight FWD but you need to use the gasket they provide this time as the opening is larger than the stock one so the seal won’t work here. make sure that bad boy is popped in there and do her up nice and tight again. (it's plastic so if you have a torque spanner best to use it here rather than over tightening it.

Now you have to trim the engine cover slightly basically it's just the section that sticks a centre metre or so deeper than the rest. I used some tin snips and a box cutter and then a file to make it nice and neat. Then it was just a matter of lining the whole thing up and screwing it in. So there are 2 by 6 x 20mm screws and washers up the back as opposed to the push pins that use to secure it.

We are all done. Clean it down and start her up. It's a good idea to check your bolts and what not prior to ignition obviously, and that you have all the tools clear. Also start her up before you put the cover on and have a good listen for leaks.

Well i don't notice anything really (not sure but it might be spooling afew hundred rpm earlier BUT i might be imagining it)
I'm not a motor head, however a mate is a Subaru wrench jockey and the way he explains it is the improvement in the TMIC is not intended to improve or unlock any ponies by itself
but provides an environment where the air is colder and denser allowing the turbo to flow to its full potential even during hot weather.
So when i add the CAI and get the ECU remapped (dyno pro tune)
Remembering I can't just slap the CAI on there or it runs the risk of running the fuel air mixture lean.
So best do it at the same time. Then I’m told I can expect between 20 and 30 extra stallions under the hood.
Now that a man can notice!

I just realised i missed some helpful pics. Unfortunatly some of the images i took of everything disassembled were blury. But i'll endevour to clean them up and post them so Make things clearer.

It has a panel filter which is a CAI of sorts but is kind of like trying to run hard while breathing through a straw. I was specifically talking about a AVO cold air pod that replaces the stock airbox/panel filter. It is then able to draw a higher amount of air from both the inner guard as well as the front air feeder. You'll need a heat sheild to run this but i figure it'll be easy enough to knock one up myself. If that fails i'll buy the one AVO suggests but i just thought $200 bucks for a heat shield was a rip off.
